wish I had read the last report, a week before I did. It would have saved me a lot of heartache. Just like the last guy, I took my neice's car to Charlie, for a simple tune-up, just to be scammed, in the end. He told my neice that it would cost $250 to change the spark plugs, and replace one ignition coil, as long as that was all that it needed.

If I needed more than one ignition coil, he would have to requote her a new price. Three days latter, when we phoned the station, to let Charlie know know that we were on our way, to pick up the car, he told her that the tune-up did not work out as well as he had hoped that it would. She asked it was OK to drive, and he said that it was fine, as long as she used it for local travel.

He also told her that she would need to pay him in cash, which I thought was strange, sine the business advertised that it accepted credit cards. within minutes of leaving the station, my neice called me crying, saying that the car was acting exactly the same, as when she took it in. I immediatley headed to the station, to have a talk with Charlie.

He told me that he attempted to do a tune-up, on the car, in good faith, but the car was not in any condition to be tuned up. He claimed that the engine cylinders were not operating properly, so he took the parts, that he claimed to have installed, and removed them from the engine, since they would not be of any help.

When I explained to him that engine cylinders are holes in a piece of metal, and they do not just stop working. He got huffy and claimed he was offended that I would question his integruity. I asked him specifically what parts, in which of the six cylinders he was refering to, he continued to repeat that the engine was no good, and that he did everything that he could, to make it work.

I asked him why he charged my neice $250, if he was not able to service the engine, and just like the last report, he claimed that it took him an entire day to realize that the engine was not any good, and the $250 was for his time performing engine diagnostic tests. My neice immediately took the car to a reputable service station, a block away from the Citgo Station, and the mechanic looked under the hood and told her that he was curious how Charlie was able to remove the valve cover, and replace it, without knocking off the pile of leaves, that had accumulated on top of it.

Since we paid cash, even though I know better, we had no recourse, to put a stop payment on the check. Charlie laughed all the way to the bank. If nothing else, I hope my report can help others to not make our mistake, and avoid the Amera station ( formery Citgo) like the plague. I've been kicking myself in the a*s, for the last three days, for not looking to see if there was any complaints against this place, before rushing her car there, with blind faith.

Hope others can benifit, from my hard learned lesson. I want to thank the guy that wrote the previous report, for trying to spare me the pain and humiliation, of being taken to the cleaners. Too bad that I was too lazy to bother to see if anyone had written any previous reports, on this place.
