In April 2008 I purchased a 2004 Ford Explorer from the dealer. Although the mileage was high, it was a very nice vehicle. Before closing the deal I was told that a $1500 down payment was due, but I negotiated with the dealer to lower it to $800, which I felt was not too bad, but steep, in my opinion. After negotiating I signed the contact, I felt that the monthly payments were too expensive, but realizing that I needed another vehicle for my younger brother I closed the deal.

The vehicle was sold to me at $12,995, but, after signing the contract I noticed a fee that was on it that was not suppose to be there, a difference in a trade ($2900). There was no trade in that transaction. So, a trade difference was refinanced, taxed and interest was applied to the deal, explaining the higher monthly payments. Although, the contract had been signed, the next day I contacted the dealer in order to get an explanation for the stated trade difference.

Instead of getting a reasonable response I was talked to harshly by both the salesman and the finance manager, the owner was never available to speak with. Once I received a reasonable response from the salesperson, he said it was necessary in order to close the deal because I already had a car financed. After driving the vehicle for two weeks I never changes. The fuel pump was no longer functioning properly and the alternator had to be replaced.

Also, I have noticed that there is discoloration on the vehicle in certain areas, I am not sure whether or not the painted is simply fading or if the vehicle was previously involved in an accident. Moreover, in all of this disturbance, the vehicle was financed at a very high interest rate (26%). This transaction is ridiculous. I have never encounted such a mess, but the vehicle must be paid for on a monthly basis or it would ruin my credit. Each month it is getting more difficult to pay for a vehicle that was financed, wrongly, at a high interest rate, in addition to paying for a vehicle that was refinanced that I did not own, the vehicle was not identified that supposedly I traded.

I have thought about taking the vehicle to the dealer and leaving it, but it would show on my credit report as a repossession. Also, since I am left to pay for this vehicle I have decided to have it refinanced in order to obtain a lower interest rate, which is the most logical solution.
