The letter states that I am one of the winners of North American Utilities that was held on Monday April 24th, 2008. Participants were selected through a computer ballot system, drwan from 149,000 telephone numbers and utilities bills. It gives ticket #1645 with serial #BR-717. The award is lump sum of $46,500.00USD cash which is the winning payout for the series. This is from the total prize money of $25,234,000.00 which is to be shared amongst the winners. The sent a check in the amount of $2,180.00 which covers the charges/fees repuired to be paid prior to receiving your winning. I am supposed to call a coordinator that is listed in the letter.

I've heard of these scams, and to believe them is ludicrous! I don't know the legistics, but from what I get they can get information regarding your bank account from the stamps on the cancelled check and then they will drain your account somehow. Frankly, I don't know if that is true or not, but there has to be catch on their part. First off, utility bills are not public information so if one of your utility companies has shared your billing information there is a legal issue there against your utility company. Second, anything that is worldwide is most likely some form of transnational crime; don't trust it and don't contact them.
