Our experience dealing with DirectBuy of Richmond, VA was one that included misleading and false sales tactics to lure us in, high pressure JOIN NOW or NEVER, Lying about being able to purchase the items you want and need.

We did not have the $5,000+ dollars to join right then and there but were amazed at the possibilities of saving so much money.  It seemed too good to be true!  You can save all this money buying the things you want and need over and over again...or so we we misled to believe that was the case!

We were promised a vacation get-away for joining - that was a complete lye and a joke!

We were promised $100's of dollars in savings at many popular restaurants for joining - that was a complete lye and another joke!

We were promised that we can find pretty much anything we needed for our home or business - yet another lye and complete joke!

We were promised great service with a knowledgeable staff - Another lye and complete joke!

We were told we had to join right then and there or we'll NEVER be able to join again!  We are planning on putting on an addition to our home in summer of 2014 and started seeing how we could possibly save $1,000's of dollars building our addition.  But we never got that far!

It took over 3 weeks to get our membership information in - once it arrived, we started to do some shopping for a vacuum cleaner, 2 laptops, a DSLR Camera, a 50" screen TV and a few other things for a total of 8 items we needed to purchase.  Over and over again, we kept getting the same results, "SORRY - that's not an item we can help you with".

Well after spending more than $2,000 on the items we wanted and needed - we starting questioning why we were being charged over $5,000 dollars for our DirectBuy membership...?  We had just made 8 purchases outside of our $5,000+ membership because DirectBuy could not help us find any of the items we wanted to purchase.

After the 2nd installment payment for our membership, we knew something wasn't right and that we had been lied to and ripped off!  I called DirectBuy of Richmond to talk about our concerns and all they could tell us is that we signed a non-cancellable contract and that we had to keep making monthly payments until the $5,000+ dollars and interest charges were paid in full!

I immediately went to my bank and put a STOP PAYMENT on their monthly recurring charges after making it clear to the DirectBuy of Richmond that we were canceling our memberthip and not making anymore payments because we have been misled!  It seems they will lie and tell you anything to get you to join and yet won't do anything afterwards to help you cancel...even though they know they lied and misled you and used high-pressure tactics to get you to join!

So on Christmas Eve 2013, I get a call from their membership finance dept. informing me that we've missed two monthly payments....I politely told the lady, we didn't miss the payments, we cancelled our membership because it was sold to us under false and misleading practices!  She proceeded to tell me that they are going to file a lawsuit against me and that it will be on my credit for the next 7 years because we were deceptively sold into a non-cancellable contract.

I immediately explained to her that if she wishes to pursue this in this manner, then I am going to the local media and filing this Ripp-Off Report and will even stand outside of their building entrace with picketing signs on the days of their open house presentations informing everyone that they invite that it is a complete scam and outright lye and to not join or waste their money on this scam membership.  Additionally, we will be filing a report with the State Attorney General of Virginia after the New Year rolls around for using Deceptive & Misleading Business Practices.

Quite honestly after reading through some of the more than 200 complaints about DirectBuy here on RippOffReport.com, we may very well also start contacting attorneys' who may be interested in filing a class-action lawsuit to stop this illegal business practice and their high-pressure sleezeball sales tactics.

Anyone who reads this is should adhere to these warnings and DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT buy into their membership and tell everyone you know the same thing until they stop doing business this way!

if you feel strongly about this   confront the manager away from the  business  ( with a few friends) and   "convince "  the person its in their best interest to refund  your money

 its time for persons to keeep scum like this from  ripping off people
