Ordered DirectTV Satellite service with Qwest and the said if was free install.

Then the DirectTV install person shows up says it is $75 I said they told me free install? He said ok can take $40 if you pay me with cash. (very suspesious)

Also we found the order was incorrect and he did not have the DVR receiver I ordered. So I just said forget it and cancel the order.

DTV would not remove the ugly dish. I have spent 50+ hours on the phone to try to have them come get their new dish for the sake of recycling they said "we don't remove dishes and if they did they would just throw it away." they told me to "remove it and throw it out." This is very irresponsible in today's day and age, not recycling perfectly good metal and 45' of cable wires etc. I would never order anything from Qwest or DirectTV again.

What a joke of a companey!

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

A Few Things

Free installs are intended to be free installs. The only reason you should ever be charged for a "free install" is if there is additional work that goes above and beyond what we called "Standard Professional Installation" (the CSR is supposed to explain what is included with a SPI, and what kind of things would be considered a custom installation at additional charge.)

The behavior you mentioned about the tech sounds extremely fishy and I highly doubt there was any custom installation involved but rather he was just trying to get an extra buck. I hate to say it but the majority of techs are complete scoundrels with a few really good exceptions. They'll cut corners and try to screw you over anyway they can, I had to yell at quite a few of them for not doing their jobs.

As far as the dish it was always the companies position that you owned the dish and other installation materials once the install was complete. We had no means of retrieving dishes at all. The best suggestion I have is to try selling the dish on eBay. There are loads of people who want to get satellite dishes without having to go through Directv.
