After numerous and numerous times of satellite reciever problems for the past 18 months, all 100% directly related to DirecTV's own designed homegrown recievers, we called to DirecTV Customer Service to complain about the problems again.(Please keep in mind that we have been faithful, good customers, paying on-time for over a decade)

Well, after waiting on the Customer Service hold line for over 30 minutes we finally got through to a representative. When we complained that the past 18 months have been horrible in Satellite reception, broken features, reboots, lost reception, failed DVR functions, etc on the satellite receiver. Their response is we are trying to resolve the problems as soon as possible.

Being as Senior design engineer, I am well aware of all the design problems and faults with DirecTV's own design models. These units should of never been released to the public. They should be considered Alpha and BETA designed receivers with many problems that customers should never experience. When the CS rep stated is there anything else, I requested to speak to a Supervisor and/or manager. She put me on hold for 6 minutes and came back and stated no supervisors are available and CS managers do not take calls from customers.

I requested all her information for referencing in a formal complaint, but she said, my name is "KAT" nad that's all I have to give you. She said, you have a problem, to write a letter to DirecTV. I satsted we want to cancel our service, which her rebuttal was, "You will have to Pay an Early Termination fee for only having the NEW equipment for 18 months and the contract is for 24 months. She also stated, if we don't recive the equipment back, you will be charged for it too. So they are Extorting us to paying for a broken, buggy, problematic system under a contract, that basically makes you sign away your personnal rights and liberties. They even threaten to effect your personnal credit rating, if you choose to fight DirecTV.

From there, my further investigation took me to DirecTV Tech Bulletin Board, where 100's of people are complaing about problems. I went up on DBSTalk.com and the same, many, many, issues with all these newly designed DirecTV boxes. Then I searched on DirecTV complaints and found 100's.

I truly would like to start a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT against DirecTV. After reading many complaints, it's clear when all this started, when DirecTV eliminated all the other 3rd party manufactured satellite receivers and began their own generic proprioretary models and the Customers have been the Lab Rats to test them and STILL have the customers pay.
