Good day,
I have had DIRECTV for about a year now without any problems. Then I had to move into a new apartment since my partner moved out and I could not afford the place on my own. I called DIRECTV to cancel my account because I thought I couldn't have service where I lived. They charged me $220.00 and without my authorization withdrew the amount $220.00 out of my account. I had to go to my bank to fill out a dispute form so try and get my money back.

I called and spoke to a representative who told me that she would put in a ticket to see that if I could not get service in my new apartment that they would refund my money back.

A couple days later I called and spoke to Tracy who told me that I would have to have a tech come out to install the service and if they couldn't find a line of sight that they would refund my money. That is not what the first rep told me. I was waiting around for a ticket that wouldn't have gone anywhere if I had not called. So Tracy said she would transfer me so I could have a tech come out and check for a line.

I was transferred to a rep named Tony who told me that I could not have someone come out or service reactivated because I had told them about the area I lived in. So first I was told that a technician had to make the call, and now Tony told me that he wouldn't do it because of what I said. I explained to Tony that I am not a technician nor am I certified to make any kind of call like that. I even told him that if they can find a line of sight than to please install the service so I have some cable. He refused to help me anymore after that point.

They withdrew money out of my account without being authorized, and gave me quite the run around to keep my money. They are the worst company and make Comcast actually look desirable.

(e) Payment Upon Cancellation. You acknowledge that you have provided your credit or debit card account information to us. You understand that you will incur fees and charges as a result of your receipt and use of Service and/or Receiving Equipment, and may incur early cancellation fees and/or equipment non-return fees (as specified in any lease, programming or other service commitment agreement you entered into in connection with obtaining Receiving Equipment). By giving us your credit or debit card account information, you authorize us to apply this method of payment, in accordance with applicable law, to satisfy any and all amounts due upon cancellation.

As you can see, their contract states that you agree that they can withdraw the cancellation fee. Which is 20$ per month left on contract.
