I was a Directv Customer for 3 yrs. When I moved from California in Dec 2005 to North Carolina I had placed my account in suspense until they could set up the service at the new house. Imagine my surprise when I found they had suspended for just 1 week although I left Calif on Dec 2nd 2005 and they couldn't set up the new connections until Dec 28th 2005. That's 26 days of no service and 19 days of charges.

I was never able to get them to credit those days back and finally got tired of paying higher and higher bills each month so I switched over to my cable company who already had my internet and phone service business. When I canceled my account I received an email that they were going to contact me to try and save my business so I figured I'd see what they had to offer.

Of course I never did hear from Directv again until I saw on my bank account that they had taken out over $200.00 for the final bill. I contacted my bank and they stated that I needed to give Directv the opportunity to reverse the unauthorized charges before they could reverse them.

I did call Directv and spoke to a rather pleasant customer service guy who listened to what I had to say and then researched my account. He was informed by his "database" that Directv now has a provision in there service agreement that any outstanding bill at the time of cancellation will be automatically taken from the account holders credit card on file. New subscribers must have a credit card on file for this purpose but people like myself who did not have this provision when we signed up and use a debit or credit card to pay the monthly bill will have that account tapped without any notice or our authorization.

I am instructing my bank to reverse the charges and will go out of my way to ensure everyone is warned about the unfair business practices of Directv and hopefully add Directv to the list of companies no longer in business.

Directv Sucks And Steals your money right out of your bank account.

AUTHOR: Bruce - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, June 15, 2007

I had Directv for 4 yrs and finally decided to cancel due to the constant rate increases. I sent them a notice of cancellation and they sent me this nice email that they were going to contact me to see if they could "keep my business". Needless to say I didn't hear from them and BOOM today I see a $204.21 charge on my bank account for, of course, Directv. Turns out that the credit card that new customers provide will be charged immediately after cancellation so they can "get their money".

Only 1 huge problem... I didn't provide that credit card to get service, it's the account I used to pay the monthly bill and it was not authorized as a recurring charge, which means each time I paid my bill I had to manually authorize the charge and digitally agree to each and every payment. However they have decided that they have the right to just go into our accounts and take what they feel they are owed. This is dishonest, outrageous and, to me, a clear reason to mobilize against Directv and put them out of business.

If YOU are a Directv customer and you are unhappy with the service and you cancel them, they will go into your bank account and take whatever amount they claim you owe them. I have disputed the charge with my bank due to the response at Directv when I called them today "We aren't able to reverse charges" which of course I countered back with "if you can charge it, you can reverse it, you just won't" and asked to speak to a supervisor. What a waste of breath. All she could read from her script was "I apologize",.... "I apologize",.... and, of course, "I apologize" When I told her to stop apologizing because she DID NOT mean it, she of course apologized.... How condescending and insincere are these morons? If you are truly sorry, you TRY to help people... When you are insincere you mouth the words and do nothing else.. That is Directv.. All mouth, no help.

Here is my first email from Directv

Interesting way for you guys to show your concern. No one ever contacted me, Then you guys go and debit my bank account 204.21 without my consent forcing me to spend
hours on the phone disputing the charge and having it reversed. Your customer service department is horrible, condescending and just plain useless. I plan on spending as much time as I can convincing people to leave Directv
and will not rest until your company is no longer in business. Great way to earn a customers loyalty isn't it?

Sincerely,

Bxxxx X Sxxxxxxx
FORMER Directv customer.
