This Company was also reccomended to me by my Insurance Company, but I soon found that Disaster One, Inc is very deceptive as they:

  • Told me thru out this process that I had no Out-Of Pocket Expense as they were being paid through the insurance Company (False)
  • Ran over the Finish Date at least twice
  • Gave me one balance in Jan which I paided in full, 2 months later they contacted me saying I owed another $5K and put a Lien on my property
  • Disaster One also never supplied a itemized bill of the work preformed during my rebuild.  What they supplied was the Scope Of Damage from the Adjuster.  The major difference between the Scope and a Bill is the Scope represents the amount of damage and not the Work preformed.
  • After I moved in, I also notified them of several problems I had with the quality of work, and damaged caused by contractor during the rebuild.  They origanally send some guy's by to address the issues, but they were unprepared and complained that they were not being paid for this.  I then asked them to leave due to there poor attitudes.   I got the impression since by this time I had already fillied out paperwork saying I was satisified, they made no attempts to address my issues.  A lot of the issues was noticed until I was living back into the home which is the reason I filled out the final paperwork as Satisfied (way to stand behind your work guy's).
  • Even though Disaster One never addressed my issues, they have tried sueing me at least twice for the balance due.

Disaster One Response

AUTHOR: DisasterOne - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, November 16, 2012
Concerned Home Owner, thanks for sharing your concerns. Well be happy to discuss them with you directly; please call us at 336-292-3398 or 800-277-4787.

While we dont comment online about specific jobs out of respect for our customers privacy, well say the following in general:

We advise our customers that they should have no out-of-pocket expense other than their insurance deductible, depending on their particular policy. If a customer decides to upgrade any items or asks us to perform additional work not addressed in an adjusters scope we will execute a signed Change Order with the customer, who is then responsible for the associated costs.

We provide written estimates, itemized bills, and change orders as necessary throughout a project.

Disaster One provides a written schedule including an expected completion date to our customers. If circumstances (for instance, engineering work or inspections that we cannot control) prevent us from meeting the date, we provide written notice to our customers.

Disaster One will complete a final walk-through with a customer and prepare a punch list. We will then complete all items on the list unless the policyholder chooses to handle any
him/herself.

Insurance companies typically issue claim payments to their policyholders, not to the company performing the work. It is the policyholders responsibility to then pay the company what is owed. If the policyholder fails to pay in full, the company has the option to file suit for payment.
