Discover Enterprise Made one offer but is charging me another and now wants me to pay 1,300 to cancel Oakley, California

I received a call from a man stating that because I had participated in a Survey I was elegible to receive an offer of magazines for 24.98  a month for 1 year and by doing this I would receive a free gift, I thought it was a good offer so I signed up.

I then had a change of heart for accepting the magazines that he offered me so I called back and spoke to an older woman who helped me change my choices for the magazines.

I then received a call from a girl who proceeded to tell me that my account was past due and that I needed to update it, at that time I was involved in a car accident and had completly forgotten about them, I adviced them of my situation and that financially would not be able to continue with their service and to please cancel she then proceeded to tell me that in order to cancel I would have to pay them 1,300 because they had already put in the subscription and plus that I was given gifts for having signed up I asked them why was I being charged so much since it was for only 1 Yr. she corrected me and said I had signed up for 5 Yrs! Not true! She then told me that they have the recording of my agreeing to this and played it for me they only played midway of the conversation not the begining. It doesn't even mention the offer of the 5yr term.

I told them that they will not be paid the amount they are requesting and that I had only signed for 1yr. They then told me that they would put my account on hold and that if I changed my mind they would reactivate it or send it to collections. I then told them that I was not agreeing to anything.

I then saw a charge from Big Managment on my debit account for around 40.00 and called my bank to see what it was about and was told it was from a magazine service these people are charging me anyway after I told them not to and advized them to cancel. I have since canceled my account. I don't answer their calls and I refuse to pay them another cent. Besides I have never heard of a magazine company charging cancelation fees to anyone so why should they?
