We had Dish Network install service nearly a year ago. A few months ago we decided to switch to a local provider and let them shut off service. They were supposed to send boxes for us to return the equiptment, but the boxes never came. About a month later they deducted 800 dollars from my credit card for the equiptment.

We called them and attempted to work through the problem with them. We were told the account shows the boxes were ordered but never shipped, it was a mistake and there was nothing they could do. After multiple phone calls and going up the chain of command, they refused to credit back the account and send the boxes to give us an opportunity to return the equiptment. We could not afford the $800 dollar deduction and were left with no choice but to pay to keep their service and equiptment. They finally gave back the $800.

Here it is, a couple months later and we contacted them, cancelled service and requested boxes...what were the chances of ANOTHER "mistake"? Once again, the boxes were not recieved, and now, a month later, another $800 dollar charge to my credit card account.

I have read the agreements and billing information, there is absolutely NO mention of unauthorized charges to my credit card. And still... they refuse to credit the money back until their equiptment is recieved. $800 is an awful lot of money to deduct from the accounts of already struggling families. That's a month's groceries... or my rent plus utilities... its absolutely rediculous and I am furious!

How to RESOLVE a situation like this one

Shannon, I hope that you contacted your bank and filed a dispute for the $800.00. Either way, do not count on Dish Network to expedite the delivery of those UPS boxes. Find a Dish retailer in your local area and drop EVERYTHING off - make sure you get a receipt for the equipment they are receiving. Do not let Dish or their employees tell you that they "only need certain parts of the dish receiver". Speaking from my personal experience, that is bullshit! Immediately - I HIGHLY recommend that you cancel your card and have it replaced ASAP. From my experience, and from what I have seen on this website (countless other complaints about missing bank account funds), it is inevitable that Dish will dip their fingers into your account AGAIN when you least expect it. I made the mistake of ASSUMING that was the last I would hear from Dish. Four months later, my bank notified me that DISH NETWORK attempted (but failed) to debit $1,098.00 from my account. They successfully took out $798.00. Dish claims they know nothing of it, yet I have proof otherwise. Protect yourself and prepare for another mishap with Dish for as long as they have your credit or debit card information. IT IS INEVITABLE!! Best of luck to you~
