Upon finding this site, I was practically falling out of my seat with laughter. I am a former "Cast Member" and am married to a current "Cast Member".

I must agree with the general public regarding Disney's treatment of not only employees, but consumers especially.

THEY DONT CARE ABOUT ANYTHING EXCEPT BEN FRANKLIN!!!

I was only employed there a month, 2 weeks of it was training, due to the lung infection I developed after working on "Splash Mtn." and "Pirates Revenge". I urge anyone who is fed up with, or curious about THE TRAGIC KINGDOM aka: DISMAL LAND read the book "Mouse Tales: a behind the ears look... " (both 1 and 2). I'm sure many questions will be awnsered by them, at the very least, a VERY good laugh.

Regarding the commercials: If you ever decide to visit "THE CRAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH take a drive around the surrounding city. The one land they left out of DCA (Disney's Crappy misAdventure) was Ghettoland, but I'm sure if you drive 5 minutes in ANY direction away from the park you will find it, and hey hey! it's FREE!
Your best bet is to save your money, strip naked, and run down your street yelling obscenities until the police arrest you. Trust me it's waaaay cheaper to post bail. I'd even bet your local jail is less crowded, you get FREE meals, and your kids will learn about the justice system, which is nonexistent in "The Park".

In response to the posting by Delaware... Dude, you must be on some really F-ing good drugs to defend the mouse, I know I was. (While coughing up my lungs, blood and asbestos). I stopped showing up to work because of it, and they didn't even notice! I finally received a call (a month and a half later), from "THE SCHEDULING DEPT." asking if I would be returning to work. They didn't care that I had nearly died, (losing 15 Lbs. in a week). I finally did recover, but after some pretty hefty medical bills that somehow didn't qualify for workers comp. Oh, BTW, OSHA was no help, the mouse owns them too. Enough about me.

My wife is currently seeking other jobs, but "Der Feurer" [spelling?] aka: the mouse, has its glove in almost everything in lovely "Disneyheim" so most avenues of employment are shot.

To anyone who is disillusioned and thinks D-Land is a good place to work, or spend $$$. may whatever spirit you beleive in have mercy on your soul (and wallet).

Did I Miss Something?

AUTHOR: Ryan - (Afghanistan)

POSTED: Saturday, November 06, 2004

I'm truly amazed at this initial post. Truly, I do understand how people can be dissatisfied with a job, but how one person can equate the SURROUNDING AREA of Disneyland as being DISNEYLAND'S FAULT somehow is beyond me. That just throws a big ol' towel over your credibility.

Your comments about OSHA being "owned" by Disney is completely without merit as well. OSHA was HEAVILY involved with making sure Disney got spanked for recent problems at the park--people DYING type problems. Believe me...OSHA is owned by no one and no company. I think your claim was ignored for obvious reasons.

And lastly, I worked at Knott's Berry Farm and while there, met my wife-to-be who was a cast member at Disneyland. She had her share of problems, but she also had her share of cool things that happened. The job supported her through college, and they were VERY flexible with her schedule.

I have an annual pass (so does my wife and my kids) and we are continually impressed with how well the place is run. There IS and HAS been a drop in the level of, how do I say, "immersion" like Uncle Walt wanted. In other words, cast members were just that. CAST MEMBERS. Not employees. They were supposed to ACT like you had left the world behind. So you would never hear cast members talking amongst themselves about their OWN lives outside of Disney. Sadly, those standards are lost nowadays in some ways. But overall, it's still a great place, especially for the kids.

Oh gosh-forget the mugging comment already!!

AUTHOR: Stormy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, August 17, 2004

OK, so everyone is up in arms about the mugging issue. Glad that all Californians have came out to rebuttal that one comment. Sorry, you guys, but some of the areas around D-Land are very poor, and I would never let myself or my kids walk too far into Anaheim. I am aware of the fact that the houses around the park are very nice and probably very expensive; these aren't the areas I'm talking about. I'm talking about the little apartment complexes with driveways full of people drinking and smoking. I'm sure this happens, even in MY town, but I don't go near it here either.

Quit your moaning!

AUTHOR: Kateri - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, August 16, 2004

I am a current cast member at D-land and a member of the Anaheim community. I have been working at the resort for a few months and will admit, at times, it is a bit of a rip-off. There are ways to avoid losing your life savings, however. For instance, AAA members and Annual passholders get a 10% discount on a LOT of stuff in and around the resort. Ask everyone if you qualify for a discount.

If you feel it is necessary to fill your house with a bunch of useless toys and crap, there are gas stations, restaurants, and thousands of other places in the general area that sell it for 10 to 15 percent less than D-land charges. Also, try going to your local mall. Disney stores all over the U.S. always have stuff on clearance. Always. There are many ways to avoid spending your kids college fund, you just have to look for them.

Now, in response to your complaints about the surrounding area, I have lived in anaheim for the better part of my life. I have also lived in Corona. I have NEVER in my life, in either place, felt in fear of being mugged. I feel safer leaving my car near Disneyland than I do at home. I have to park on the street at home (in Anaheim) and left my window down the other night with a very expensive stereo system and other valuable stuff inside. Do you know my car was UNTOUCHED the next morning? There is nothing wrong with the area except for the close-minded people who come here expecting to get robbed. Maybe they do that in YOUR town, but around here, we have a little more respect for each other.

As for those of you who have complaints about the cast members, you are the ones who mistreat us, not the other way around. I can't begin to tell you how many times I have been yelled at by guests, for something that is out of my hands. We have a major WHINER in my department at least once a week wondering why they can't get any help. STOP WHINING! You guys are grown men and women. All you are teaching your children when you do this is to b*tch and moan when they can't get their way. (I could go on all day.)

You people have walked into places you clearly shouldn't have been, touched things that should not be touched, and been general 2-year-olds about everything since day one. Yet and still, there are people like me, who can keep a smile and a pleasant attitude with you guys. I am not the nicest nor the most benevolent person in the world, but I have been known to go out of my way to make guests happy.

I have taken time out of my day to escort guests around the parks, make table calls (i'm NOT a waitress), and lots of other things I didn't have to do. I did it out of the goodness of my own heart. I'm not saying we're all like that, but did you ever stop to think that Disneyland doesn't hire just anyone? It's just like being in the military (believe me, I just got out) only you can quit anytime you want. The resort on the whole will work with you to accomodate you as much as we can.

One last thought. To those of you who are wondering, there are over 22,000 HUMANS working to make sure you have the most ejoyable experience while in Southern California. Please treat them with a little more respect.

Anaheim is not THAT bad!

AUTHOR: Colene - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 13, 2004

I, too, have annual passes to Disneyland. I have 3 young children and we go a few times a month. My kids have a great time (which is really all that matters) and the surrounding area is not that bad. I have never been worried about getting mugged while walking through Anaheim. I mean, if you are from Corona you should realize that Corona is no better than Anaheim.

Stop Your Whining!

I have an year pass to disneyland and take my 2 yr old son about 3 times a month yeah of course sometimes its crowded but hello its an amusement park... The area surrounding is bad but its like its own city in disneyland you park in private structures and take a tram to the park and when leaving the exit takes you straight to the freeway. My son has ran up to the characters many times and they spend a couple of minutes with him as far as waiting in line to see them its better than everyone bombarding them.. The ride closures are for our safety would you rather get hurt or have a safe ride.. The only complaint I have is that some employees are rude and the height limit for the Matterhorn is too short, my son is well above the 35" limit and we went on during the ride I had to literally use my arms as a vice to hold his neck and head from being tossed around. The ride is to to rough for small children and unfortunately I had to put my son through that. The park is fun and great and if you live in the area and go more than once a year get a year pass its only $105 and weekdays and sundays are never crowded.

Don't be so ridiculous, you run a risk of being mugged

AUTHOR: Stormy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, October 24, 2003

I have four children and go to Disneyland once per year. Yes, you can laugh all you want, former cast-members, it is our family vacation. The park is crowded. The area around the park is a dump and you run a risk of being mugged if you venture too far. But, we have a good time every year, in spite of the poor cast members and the over-crowding. You whine and complain and spew conspiracy theories, but have nothing to back up your claims. How many people work for Disneyland? How many families are supported by Disneyland? It seems that there would be enough people involved to make changes if your claims are founded. Until then, suck it up Mouseboy-Disney seems to paying your bills!

Well Matt it sounds like you are just a tad bit mad at the mouse; but I would expect that from someone who likes to think that all his failures in life are someone elses problem. I know if it hard to believe that when you go to work for a large company and you dont have a lot of training that the pay is not so great.

As to your bogus illness; sell your story to the enquirer. How did you get sick on Pirates or Splash; your supervisor told you not to drink the water from the ride !!

As to your wife not able to find any work in Southern California; having been a former resident of Cal-Mexico try this out for size....MOVE......Why is it Disneys fault you and your wife cant find work....maybe it is due to your lake of education or training (just guessing).

It is people like you that make it so that the park has to charge $50 to get in; because they have to have 500 lawyers to protect themselves from people like you.

Quit crying and get off the computer and go find another job....

#1 Consumer Suggestion

I have alot of questions about your report!

AUTHOR: April - ()

POSTED: Monday, July 15, 2002

For starts, I can honestly tell you that NO ONE has OSHA in their pockets, the bigger the company the more OSHA likes to piss them off. I'm just wondering, you said that they caused you lung infection, what was your actual diagnosis? If it did have anything to do with working at Disneyland, then you should take copies of your records to the State Health Department. They WILL do an investigation and if it turns out to be Disneylands fault, they will involve other organiztions to stop this, they will also make Disneyland pay or reinburse you for your medical exspenses.

I will definately agree with on on "Ghettoland", I go to Disney world every year for vacation, but the first year we learned our lesson to stay in the park, when we made reservations at a hotel on the outskirts of Disney World. Their sewage in the hotel actually rain out of the bathroom, and as soon as you opened the door to the room, all you could smell was bug spray (roach spray I imagine). Then when you go to tell them you want to leave their hotel, they put up a sign (that wan;'t their the night before) saying no refunds.

As to them takeing peoples money, please elaberate. People want to know the specifics, so they can avoid getting screwed.
