Dixie Homecrafters Rudest Salesman On The Planet! Rip-off, Fear Based and Insulting Tactics! Charlotte, North Carolina

Ok, so I know that people are out for a buck, but I guess I'm just a little too naive and trusting. For months, Dixie Homecrafters had been calling me, asking for an opportunity to give me a quote on replacement windows. I bought an older home, so eventually I will replace the windows -- but not today. The phone agent acknowledged that fact on the phone when they made the appointment, saying that the quote would be good for a year and that they just wanted to give me a number to consider when I was ready to make a decision.  Ok, so maybe I am stupid, because I believed him.

After several missed opportunities, I accepted an appointment. The salesman was punctual to the minute. After some chit-chat, during which time he made a cursory appraisal of four of my twenty-eight windows, he showed me a sample of their window (I've seen several, it was no different that Lowe's or anyone else's!) and, of course, theirs, at least to him, was superior.  That didn't bother me.  What did bother me was what happened next.

Peter, the salesman with the fake British accent, began to ask me for permission to run my credit. He said that unless I was a millionaire I would never be able to pay cash for a window remodel and he needed to know whether I had the credit worthiness to do business with them. i was, for many reasons, resistant to providing my social security information to a man who just showed up at my door -- especially when I knew that I was not buying windows that day and, most of all, because I had not seen any figures!! He didn't even have a piece of paper to write a quote on, had to borrow a sheet from me to figure on! It became evident to me that he never intended to provide the quote I'd been promised, he just wanted my personal and financial information! The harder he pushed, the more resistant I became, and when I told him that I had no intention of providing my personal information to him, that when I got ready to get windows I had my own plans to pay for it, he became beligerant, insulting and told me that I would not do business with his company and insinuated that had gotten him to my home under false pretenses. He further stated that should I ever have another window salesman to come to my house (because my information would be removed from their contact list -- boo h*o h*o?) I should be honest with them from the beginning and not waste their time! I then opened my front door and thanked him for leaving. The following day I called Dixie to report this salesman's behavior. I was met with a lukewarm response at best and, as of today,  5 days later, have not heard from them since.  I can only assume that his actions were sanctioned by the company and they did not feel that any apology was necessary. DO NOT ALLOW THESE PEOPLE INTO YOUR HOMES. THAT THE MAN DID NOT EVEN HAVE A QUOTE SHEET CONFIRMS TO ME THAT HE/THEY ARE NOT ON THE LEVEL AND I CAN ONLY IMAGINE WHY HE KEPT PUSHING TO GET MY CREDIT INFORMATION. THEY ARE FRAUDS!
