My ex- paid for the Prenatal DNA Paternity test b/c I found out I was pregnant 5 wks after weeks after we broke up and while I was dating someone new, the doctor explained there was still a possibility that he was the father. We were pretty certain however that my boyfriend at that time was the father, and I had gotten pregnant later than what the doctors had said.

He paid $1400 in total for all the materials, shipping, testing, and results. Which we never got a paper result showing the proof, they called him. My first clue that something was wrong was when the company, which there is only one person you ever talk to, told us to LIE to the hospital. We were to to tell them that we were part of a medical case study, to never mention a DNA test or they would refuse to do the test. After the test I called the hospital because I knew some of the nurses and they told me that's a lie. If I have a prior appointment (which I called and made one) they do not ask questions, they just do the test. If its for a DNA test they can't decline my services if its paid for, b/c I or my baby is not at risk. And only a dna test can be ordered by a liscensed medical professional to have blood drawn...so if we were told to lie, whoever is calling, the company does not have a medical profession liscense, in fact nobody associated with the company has a medical liscense or they would have to have that information for hospital records. Case studies however, they just need to be a 'science-based company'.

After 2 weeks we got the results back, and they said that my ex was the father. He said that the other guy didn't have any of the genetic markers. But my ex- had all of them. He said they were positive that it was my ex. I called and talk to the guy to find out if it was true because the dates I concieved according to the doctors did not match. At all, in fact they were more than 2 weeks off, and all the ultrasounds (I had 2 by that time) and blood work all showed that my son was concieved exactly when they thought he was. Down to the day...

He told me that I needed to ignore my doctors, they don't know anything. I need to trust my results and my instincts, that my ex- very well could be the father and the results confirmed my fear. But that we get a free paternity test to confirm the results after my son is born so they have it for their records as much as mine...so i tell him I'll call him if I need it.

So my son is born May 2008. This all took place in Jan 2008. Now I go through the state to file child support and the caseworked said he's decided to pursue legal paternity establishment through the testing of the state. So we go through that. The results come back in 8 days...he is NOT the father. In fact he only had 4 genetic markers in total.

I call him with the results and he's relieved and so am i. I notify the company and explain to them what happened. This is my response:

"It sounds like the easiest thing to do would be to send in new samples from the baby, and this other gentleman, and we will do a whole new test for you for only $120.00 I do not know what happened before we have never confused samples in thirteen years,
Thanks"

I replied that I was told that I free paternity test after my son was born to confirm the results. After several emails exchanged the explaination was this:

DNAplus.com: "Wednesday, December 10, 2008 2:14:12 AM:

When was your original test done. We have a time limit on the confirmation test, Thanks"

Me: "Thursday, December 11, 2008 7:59 PM:

it would be a year ago exactly. We recieved the test results after the first of the year. Do you not keep this information on file for all the tests you do to show proof of your statistics should you ever be investigated, or try to show that it is a legitimate test?"

DNAplus.com: "Thursday, December December 11, 2008 11:21 PM:

we do not keep the records becaude of confidentiality, there is very private information in our files and we have them shredded after that time
Thanks"

So they do not even keep records of any testing, which would mean they do not keep records of results. Or of mistakes. So how are they claiming they've never made a mistake in 13 years? And then how does their website claim they're 99% accurate? This is a scam.

I'm glad I put my foot down with my ex- and told him I wasn't going to pay a dime for this test. Because he tried to get me to pay half. B/c I would be in court right now suing them. They caused MONTHS worth of grief and fighting, arguing. My ex- is married and it caused a lot of problems for his wife, he refused to have anything to do with what I thought was his son, was fighting me through the system to delay paying child support in any shape way or form. My son is now 6 months old and I could have filed and gotten child support MONTHS ago. I could have not had to spend 3 months of my pregnancy crying my eyes out in bed b/c I was so upset that this man who they TOLD ME was the father of my son, wanted nothing to do with a baby i thought we created together. How pathetic of a scam to take advantage of pregnant women like this.
