This happened a few years ago probably in 2004 or 2005 but I'm going to report it anyway. I had Doc's Auto and Tire Center put a new tire on the car I had at the time.
Several weeks later my car started driving funny- wobbling and the steering seemed off. Then one night after 11:00 p.m. I left work and my car was driving really badly.
I usually travelled the interstate on my 15 minute drive home but was afraid to with the car driving like that. All my family was 2 hours away and I just wanted to get home so I tried to go on the road with a lower speed limit hoping I would make it.
I only got 1/2 mile up the road when I heard a loud grinding noise, saw sparks flying and saw my tire shoot up in the air. My wheel had totally flown off and caused pretty bad front end damage to my car! I was so thankful I didn't have my small daughter with me. Especially if we had been on the interstate. Going at that rate of speed someone would have been killed. Luckily being late at night no one was around to be injured by the flying wheel. Some guys walking around a little ways off rolled the wheel back to me.
I was afraid being a lady by myself stranded at that late hour. A police officer arrived, looked at the vehicle and said the lug nuts were stripped. Some friends from work passed through behind me and gave me a ride home thankfully. The car was towed. This happened Saturday and I was off Sunday.
Monday I go to Doc's to tell them what happened and they denied putting the tire on. But I knew. I had just been in there weeks before getting that specific tire put on. I had the receipt and I showed them but it didn't specify what tire they had replaced so they refused to take responsibility for their actions.
Myself, my daughter, or another motorist or pedestrian could have been killed! It made no difference to them. They didn't care or try to do the right thing.
I had to pay a $1,000.00 insurance deductible out of pocket which was hard to do being a single mom. The insurance adjustor and the garage I had the car fixed at agreed the lug nuts were stripped. The insurance company tried to help me get the deductible from them but they wouldn't do the right thing and pay it knowing good and well what they had done. But I thank God no one was hurt. My mother and I used to do lots of business at Doc's and now we can't stand the sight of the place.
Please do not have anything done at Doc's. If you do you are putting your life or someone else's at risk.

Truth

AUTHOR: Aimee - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, July 06, 2011

The truth is Doc's changed the front driver's tire. I had to save up to get my passenger rear tire replaced and had it done at "the other guy's" a week or two later. It was simply a new tire put on and courtesy check of tread depth and tire inflation- no tire rotation. I hung on to my receipt and that is what it states. As for having the vehicle towed to "the other guys" I had just had a stressful and scary situation happen to me and my first thought was to have it towed to the last place it was in the shop. The next day I realized the tire that came off was installed at Doc's. The tire that came off was not even sold through the "other guys". Monday I contacted my insurance agent and we discussed the situation. I in no way lied to my agent or didn't give him the facts. I had to rent a car at my own expense while my vehicle was in the shop. My insurance agent told me to go to Doc's with my receipt (which I had) and they told me they didn't know if I had another shop work on the tire in the couple weeks since it had been in their shop. The tire was still almost new so why would I have another shop put on another front driver tire in that short amount of time? And the "other guys" did not have all my wheels off since all they did was replace a tire- they did no tire rotation. Trust me, if the "other guys" would have been responsible for this I would have taken up the issue with them. Basically there was nothing I could do since they denied responsibility and claimed someone else had worked on that tire or wheel besides themselves. It happened to me, those are the facts.

Danny and Dock are honest as the day is long

AUTHOR: stevep - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, September 03, 2009

I've known Danny Lee and his father Dock for a long time. They are as honest as any man Ive ever met, honest to a fault and good folks.

I've had numerous business dealings with them, and have NEVER had a shred of doubt on how Ive been treated or dealt with.

I think this attack on Danny and Dock is scurrilous, disingenuous and dishonest.

There are always TWO sides of a story

AUTHOR: Doc''s Auto & Tire - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, August 20, 2009

There are always TWO sides of a story but HERE are the FACTS:

On 3/24/05 - we installed 1 tire on the Dodge Avenger on the passengers side front of "miss Aimee's" Dodge Avenger (mileage 117,194)

On 4/9/05 - another repair shop here in Cookeville (we will not point fingers and name names) installed 1 tire and performed a courtesy check on her vehicle - (mileage 117,914)

On 4/16/05 - 7 days after she has been to the "other" repair shop - she has a wreck.. Her drivers front wheel comes off...

It had been 23 days and more than 720 miles since we had seen the vehicle...

Our tire had been moved to another position on Miss Aimee's vehicle which means the "other" repair shop had the tires off of it when she had a tire installed by them.

Miss Aimee has the vehicle towed to the "other" repair shop after the wreck.

I personally spoke to the insurance agent and asked him how can we be responsible when we were not the last known repair shop working on her vehicle - and they had her tires and wheels off?  HE DID NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS! Had Miss Aimee  withheld that information from him?

We NEVER denied putting Miss Aimee's tire on! We still have the copy of our invoice...

We have been in business for over 30 years. We value our customers and we run an honest business. Miss Aimee did not find satisfaction with the other repair shop so she came to us to blame...

I feel for Miss Aimee's situation with her vehicle and hate that she has had this problem but she needs to blame the CORRECT party responsible!
