Doheny's Water Warehouse Shipping delay and poor customer service Reno, Nevada

I ordered pool chemicals to close our pool this fall. The website advertises free 'fast' delivery so I ordered early in the week so that the chemicals would arrive by the weekend for us to close the pool. By Friday I had not received a shipping confirmation so I e-mailed the company. By Sunday my husband decided to buy what he needed from a local pool supply company. I finally heard from Doheny's on Monday that the order had shipped. I replied that I no longer needed the item and they said that it would be my respsonsibility to ship it back when it came. Since I didn't want to pay shipping costs, I placed a large, typed note to my front door to refuse shipment. Unfortunately, FedEx purposely ignored it and left it anyway. I again contacted them to politely ask if they could have FedEx come to pick it up for return shipment and they replied that it was my responsibility to send it back and pay shipping costs. I have never dealt with an internet company this stubborn that they would risk losing a customer in order to save themselves the cost of shipping back an item that was obviously not delivered 'fast'. Needless to say, I will not be ordering from them again or recommending them to anyone. Especially since their prices are not that discounted and even though they advertise free shipping, you must pay a 'handling fee' that more than makes up for the shipping costs. VERY deceptive.
