In July, of this year, I bought a used Nissan Maxima (1999) from Donald Banks when he still lived in Richmond, CA.The car being used, we made a verbal agreement to split half the cost of parts and he do all the repair work.  Unfortunately, Donald Banks broke our verbal contract and refused to relinquish the parts or the cash given him. Also, I believe Mr. Banks did not buy new parts for my car as agreed.

There are circumstances that led me to believe that Mr. Banks had the zeal to rip me off all along. Here's why:

He was hours late returning from getting parts for car

Lack of communication with me-broke agreement not to put used parts on car

Broke original agreement to not buy used parts for car

Went to Pick-n-Pull to purchase mount and axil (produced shoddy looking receipt)

Failed to replace Carter Pin in control arm causing it to come loose (he was on the phone while working)

Car malfunctioned on freeway as a result of incompetent mechanic work (Tow bill was $200)

After multiple attempts to rectify the situation, and pleas for Mr. Banks to finish what he started , he refused to respond or return my cash or parts. He has, as of this date, not returned my calls or contacted me. I emplored Mr. Banks to work with me as I needed to get back to work. He was uncaring, unprofessional, and unsympothetic to my plight.

He is unprofessinal as he leaves you to babysit his daughter, or talks of the details of events to your family and friends. I was trying to give the young guy a break seeing he was trying to take care of his daughter. I met him when he moved into my neighborhood, he was fixing/selling cars,so, I bought a car from him and would let him fix it. However, when I went to register the car I learned he has no dealers lisence to be selling as many cars as he does.

So consumers be aware of him in the Bay Area and Central Valley. He may sell you a car and leave you to deal with all the legal ramifications of sellig cars with no lisence. I advise all consumers who purchase a car from an individual and they fill they have been ripped off, please, go to Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) in your city and ask them to do a DMV investigation on that person. If you don't report these events, then, people like Donald Banks will keep taking the hard earned money of us honest Americans.

Lastly, make sure you deal with a certified mechaninc, even if it is an individual working out of his garage. His incompetence almost cost us our lives. we were blessed. His
