I know I was not a consumer, but I thought people should still know that Doodlebug Dog Walker seems to use unfair hiring practices. "Trish" from HR seemed to make her decision solely on prejudice - prejudiced agains the disabled which became illegal in 1990. When we spoke on the phone, at one point during the conversation it took me a few seconds longer for me to say the title "unarmed security guard" (which I have a certificate for and short term experience.)

I feel that was the main reason she didn't hire me. I told her via email that I suffered from a mini-stroke (or something similar) several years ago. Since then on rare occasion, it takes me a few seconds longer to remember a phrase. It's rare though. I grew up with a learning disability which I mentioned as well after she told me two days later that she "filled" the position.

My L.D. is a mild problem that would never get in the way of most things like walking a domesticated animal for 30 minutes. I simply learn a little differently but am average I.Q. and can walk animals very easily and appropriately.

I should add while we spoke, she found out that all of my jobs were minimum wage and my last two jobs last year were short term so there's a gap. She gave me an uncomfortable laugh when we spoke, and then said that there were other steps to the "hiring process" as well as other people to interview. Really? All that to walk a dog for 30 minutes in my own neighborhood? Obviously she made that up.

I would like to point out, even though on a rare occasion it may take literally 3 or 5 seconds longer to recall a word... I can still do several things like dog walking, janitorial work, packaging, mowing lawns etcetera. I've also owned a Beagle some years ago and walked her as well as fed her. I'm also currently helping to pet sit a black Labrador for a family friend.

I believe people should be "tested" or "tried out" for one day and see how it goes, before making a snap judgment.
