I recently was sent to an oral surgeon for Dr Bradley to have a dental implant completed, under the assumption, from Dr. Bradley that his fees for crown etc, were nominal. The main fees would be for the surgery and implant. So I went to his friend to have the work completed, I had the implant installed at a cost of $3000. This process has taken months, now the information has been sent back to Dr Bradley who now has his assistant call me to say I need to pay another $2000.00 to have my front tooth "installed". This is a racket, and I know there must be others.

A typical implant is about $1800 assuming no bone grafts are necessary. Bone grafts can add another thousand or so.

As far as the installation of the front tooth, the abuttment should cost no more than $300, and the crown could run $800-$1000.

It is a lengthy process, 6-12 months. But, you'll have a tooth that's better than a real tooth. The implant is composed of titanium with small holes throughout. The bone grows into the small holes and is permanently anchored into your jaw. Titanium and human bone meld beautifully together. So in effect you have an indestructible root. After the bone melds with the titanium, the crown is placed.

Although it is far more expensive than a bridge, it is permanent. And unlike a bridge, you don't have to cut down neighboring good teeth. Bridges are also difficult to keep clean and expose the anchor teeth to infection and possible root canal.

It may seem like a lot now, but in the long run, you won't regret it.
