Do NOT let this "Dr." Joel Stafford touch you or members of your family.

I went to Comfort Dental in Falcon, Colorado with a cavity around a filling in a molar.  It could not be repaired.  He extracted the tooth.

In doing tha:

1- he popped off a crown on an adjacent tooth -- said "oops", and then saw some decay that the X-ray did not pick up.

Instead of leaving the crown off and making a follow up appointment to fix the problem he GLUED THE CROWN BACK ON on and claimed it was a "temporary" gluing.  Later he stated that the gluing was permanent and that he NOW had to break the crown off to fix the problem.

In other words he did it deliberately so he could charge me another $800 to $1000.00 for a "new" crown.

2- he was in such a hurry to try to jam so many patients into one afternoon that he BROKE OFF PATS OFHT ETOOTH HE WAS EXTRACTING.  They stack patients up in adjacent treament rooms with HALF WALLS between them so you can hear them talking to waiting patients over the HALF wall (wazzup with that? between patients --not even a room for privacy)

He left two TOOTH FRAGMENTS IN MY JAW imbedded under the gum.  He saw them because he mentioned them to his german female assistant but he left them in there -- he was in a hurry to run up bilable treatments.  The fragments worked their way through the gum, became exposed, and I pulled them out and scraped them out with my fingernails -- after pain, infection, bleeding, and fear.

3- he tried four times to sell me bridge work for $3000.00 to $5000.00 (with an eight or ten per cent "cash discount" -- he never could remember which "discount" he was offering but it was based upon what they get charged if I used a credit card as opposed to a debit card).

4- he refused to consider any other alternatives but could not explain how a bridge would work since he had damaged the anchor tooth.  All he wanted to do was get his part of the $5000.00

5-he got angry and mailed me my x-rays when I complained about his treatment and asked for another dentist.

This guy and hs group are only interested in the MOST EXPENSIVE treatment they can force on you, whether it will work or not and that is all they care about.

Oh -- did I mention that he also let two other teeth that I damaged in an accident sit for two months without doing anything, refusing to discuss crowns for them, and then trying to sell another bridge set for $5000.00!!!!!!

He will NOT take care of things at an appropriate level, but only tries to force feed the most expensive procedures upon you, and denies that any other procedures will work.

Other dentists do not agree with him, but they are unwilling to sign a certificate of review so you can sue this guy.

In the meantime try living for more than a month with tooth fragments imbedded under your gum after being told that it will cost $500 or more for someone else to take them out, as they work their way painfully to the surface, and then scraping and pulling them out with your fingernails while he drives around in his comfy car.

How nice for him, eh?

How nice.

He is a butcher.

The simple truth

AUTHOR: Joel - ()

POSTED: Friday, December 13, 2013

It is sad that this response has to be written. In our now six years of doing business we have never experienced this sort of outright dishonesty. The statements and claims found in this report are false and have no merit. From our stand point there is much information about the plantiff that could be included which, would help to make our case clearer and more convincing, but due to hipaa laws and respect for others we are unable to divulge that information. Even those who tell lies and use the internet as a way to tarnish the reputation of others for their own personal/monetary gain those details will be omitted.

The plantiff is correct in stating that I removed a tooth which was non-restorable. And yes in the process the crown of the adjacent tooth was dislodged and it was noted that decay was present underneath. The patient was notified of this and the crown was bonded back on the tooth until further work could be completed at the proper time. All of which is standard operating procedure.

The rest of the complaint is confusing even to me. It has been years since this patient was treated. To the best of my knowledge he had multiple dental issues and was given options of how to treat them. If he was missing a tooth then he was given an option for having a bridge placed to fill the space caused form the missing tooth. I discussed prices and options with him due to the fact that in our office we, the Dr.'s have that conversation and do not let a third party do it. We find that it is more helpful in developing the relationship with the patient and helps us understand their needs better.

What may be the most frustrating part of this whole process is that this is one persons opinion. It was expressed in such a way that makes it almost impossible for the general public to decifer truth from fiction. As a doctor I and my partners are comitted to doing nothing but providing the dental care that our patients need in a relaxing non-threatening enviorment. We have so many of our patients tell us how much they enjoy our office and the experiences they have had here. I would also encourage any of our existing patients who may come across this website to reaffirm what I have stated and to share their dental experiences at our office.

Lastly, I would encourage all who are looking for a great family orientated dental practice to come and visit our office. We have served the Falcon community for six years and plan to be here for many more.

Sincerely,

A concerned Dr.
