Notified on 10/8/08 that I was a winner from an e-mail drawing for the Coca Cola lottery to support the S. Africa World Cup. On 10/10/08 (few days from original notice) I was told I met all the requirements to receive part payment of US $4 million dollars. I need to send "NON-RESIDENT CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE/RECEIPT" (quoting the e-mail) and within 24 hours the funds will be in my bank account. I have no idea what the certificate is but I know I have been warned to ignore anything from S. Africaa. I never gave them any information, especially bank account. Can they get that on their own? Since I can't/won't send the requested certificate, I gather I'm safe, but am I? I'm headed for my bank in the morning to alert them anyway.
I have gotten several of these kinds of notice and even 2 phone calls this year--I could probably top Oprah in wealth. However, something needs to be done about these folks. There are a lot of hurting people out there (and I'm one of them) and it's easy to be taken in and lose whatever little bit you might have. According to all my e-mails this year, I should have won aroound $30 million!!!!
