Re: Common Scam to avoid -- Dentist Fray Zerafat, San Diego CA
False advertising, intentional and deliberate misleading of public

In regard to: Fray Zerafat DDS at Dream Smile Dentistry
4501 Mission Bay drive Suite 2E
San Diego CA 92109

These actions described below resembled more a common scam being pulled on the public, one of which we (And definitely you) are trying so much to avoid.

This dentist advertises a special low cost package deal (For checkup and cleaning) to get customers in, but in fine print he conceals what he will not do: the cleaning, even if the package price was suppose to include cleaning. (Legally, even this fine print is not conclusive to what exactly will be or not be done in the presence of Periodontal).
Over the phone I already inquired about the cleaning and received the answer-the Dentist itself will do it'- which already raise my eye brow;

The fine print of the add mentioned that cleaning will be done 'In the absence of Periodontal disease-And surely enough- he 'finds' periodontal disease in my mouth, full of it... so he is exempt from the 'cleaning' and in 5 minutes I am out of the office, no cleaning, no quotes, no charts, and actually I have been ordered out- Literally, rudely, since I dared to ask to inquire about the cleaning portion I paid for and not been done.

I am not going to judge here his dental qualification, if he has any, but- for rudeness, deliberately misleading info, trying to get more innocent customers to operate costly procedures in vein (Those customers who believe his 'analysis') he gets a TEN score.

Not only do I question his integrity, I question also his professional ethics, as he refused to give me anything in writing. All was just a verbal utter, in a hasty manner- 'this and that and that and this' (Saying: ALL is wrong, ALL the teeth are bad, ALL mouth is full of Periodontal disease); all in order to load me up and overwhelm me with info, which needless to say I am not proficient with. In less than 5 minutes I am ordered out (see below) of the office with nothing in my hands.

To my opinion this is clearly a scam where this Dentist tries to cash in on innocent victims. The initial visit cost paid to him upfront will cover the 4 X-rays taken (and still revenue left), and the cleaning will never be done, since he will always going to find some periodontal disease, (the same one buried in the fine print) and in addition surely a certain percentage of the innocent prospective clients will go for the costly treatments. What did the client (I, in this case) gets for the money he paid? Nothing. I was literally robbed of the money I paid (and surely he made sure it was paid upfront; and- no receipt) and the time I spent, by a set-up scam, initially and deliberately planned to rob me and just offer me services I do not need or not interested in.

Breakdown:
I am not going to judge his dental qualifications (if he posses any); however these issues should be addressed as a Dentist professional in San Diego, CA:

1. Misleading:
Deliberately misleading info, trying to get more innocent customers to operate costly procedures in vein (Those customers who believe his 'analysis')

2. Rude and unethical:
I was literally thrown out of his office (!), by him and his secretary, screaming at me, when I was inquiring if I can get any written work charts or breakdown of prospective work, and if I am to be reimbursed for the unused portion of cleaning that was not done.
[I will not mention here all other unethical and improper behaviors I encountered there, but if and when needed I can described in length].

3. Not delivering promised service:
No cleaning was done
No charts were given.
Nothing given to customer (Oh, other than the rude behavior). No charts, no prospective work breakdown, no current problems in what teeth. Other than the vague terminology (vague for me) repeated of Periodontal and saying my entire mouth need crowns and replacing I have no clue.
In less than 5 minutes (Other than x-ray time) I was out. Is this time frame normal for Dental initial checkup?

4. Suspicious initial intentions:
As his observation was a Periodontal disease, his notion is that he is 'exempt' (?) from this cleaning procedure. I strongly suspect he had ANY initial intention to do this cleaning. As I said, when inquiring over the phone and was informed HE will do the cleaning, not usual at dental office. I am willing to suspect how many cleaning procedures he has actually done on the entire population arrived thru this advertising.
