My daughter, age 19, enrolled in this Drive America program on May 2, 2005. The introductory fee was $1.00. It was automatically billed to her credit card. On the next statement (June 2, 2006) they billed $7.95. Then on the next statement they doubled billed her on June 29 and on July 2 and continued to do so through December.

I called the credit card company and questioned them about the charges. They said that Drive America was double billing and that they would dispute the charges. I called Drive America on January 16 and they said that they were not double billing.

When my daughter locked herself out of her car on January 24 and called Drive America for Roadside Assistance they told her that she was no longer a member and hung up on her, even though it shows on my credit card statement that they charged my credit card for the month of January. They told her that we had cancelled our membership, when my husband spoke to them they said that they had cancelled our membership because we disputed the charges, and when I spoke to them they said that the credit card company cancelled our membership. It states in their handbook that if they cancel your membership that they will notify you, we were never notified.

When I spoke to them first time I asked them if they had my daughter in the computer twice and they said that they didn't. When I spoke to a different person the next day they said that they did have her in their system twice. They said that because she had cashed a check from them for $5.00 that enrolled her again. I told them that was a check for reimbursement on gasoline receipts that she had sent in. Then I asked them why they would send her another enrollment if she was already enrolled in thier program. I also asked why if she was enrolled twice why didn't she have two membership cards. The person I spoke to didn't really have an answer for either of those questions. So they were double billing her because someone obviously doesn't know how to do their job.

And because we disputed one of the double charges they (Drive America) cancelled both memberships without any notification.

I have since then cancelled my membership (January 25, 2006) and asked for a refund for January 2006. Which they said that I already recieved, but that was for the double billing. It states in their handbook that if are not satisfied with their services that you may cancel your membership and they will refund your money for that month. My daughter never recieved her reimbursement for January.

They were very rude and apparently very unorganized. I am very dissatisfied with their service. I also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
