You have a better way?

AUTHOR: Unbiased Truth - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, March 28, 2008

Some of you may have some gripes against DT, those gripes may be legitimate to a point. Seriously though, you are all upset because you purchased something that you could not afford or did not feel was worth paying for whatever reason. If you had kept up your obligation then this would be a non issue. This does not change the fact that DT helps people who cannot get financed for a vehicle in fact get financed for a vehicle.
Of course when you sell over 60,000 used cars a year some have problems. I can personally state with no cause for shame that DT is a good company for most involved. Not every situation is perfect but for most of the people on this thread it seems as if you are just angry at specific people within DT or are angry at your own self induced situation or how it turned out. Remember everyone, you bought a used car, you had the bad credit, and when you purchased the car you needed the assistance. DT did not promise that all would be perfect only that it would be here for you if you needed help should any problems arise. Most of you probably called and cussed out the manager when you had a problem and then wondered why no one would help you out. Some of you presented impossible situations and then throw a fit when we in fact cannot help your situation. If you are a reasonable person and have a reasonalbe request, DT is here for you and has plenty of ways to be able to assist with repairs, payments etc. etc. It is ridiculous to say shut down a company with so many good people working for it. It is petty and un-educated just as most of the problems with our society are.

In regards to payoffs: Customers of DT try to get financed outside and what usually happens is the financing is kicked back. For DT to count on the fact that a finance manager said that he will get DT's money is ridiculous. When they ask you to bring your car back or bring more money you have already gone 1-3 payments down with DT and of course this must be reported to the credit bureau. If you want to do it correctly then you will make sure your financing is secured and not take delivery of your new car until this takes place. Once financing is secure there should be no problem cutting a check to DT within a day or two. Again, most just blame the establishment but would sing a different tune if they were the establishment.

My POS caught on fire 1 month after purchase!

AUTHOR: Rebecca - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, January 14, 2005

My idiot ex ruined our credit, and when we separated I needed a car for work. With newly bad credit, I wasn't sure what to do, and all the "regular" dealerships wanted enormous down payments. I purchased a Mitsubishi from DT in 2001, and had it for all of 1 month before it caught on fire. This was a fairly new car, too, and only had 50k miles (according to the odometer) I suffered third degree burns on my arms trying to put the fire out, and when I called DT, they told me they couldn't help me. I couldn't trade the car, and they were still holding me to my $400/mo payment obligation. I couldn't drive the car, and certainly wasn't going to pay for something that was obviously faulty, so I told them to come pick it up. They called my family members, friends, and employees just to embarrass me into making payments. Finally they picked it up a YEAR later, and told me they were going to sue me for $9000 for a car with a blue book value of $3000. To avoid bankruptcy, I finally had to shell out $3000 for a settlement in December of last year. My credit is ruined. I'll be seven years before my credit is decent again. This company sucks, and I would happily join any class action lawsuit, just tell me where to sign up!

Put someone in charge

AUTHOR: Laurie - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, January 07, 2005

We need to stop talking about them and lets put someone in charge of getting the class action started. These people call my friggin landlord and they knew we traded in the car. They got conformation from the dealer. They still told me I had to make payment. They threaten with my credit report and call everyone. I traded it in and they are getting paid off. They know it takes a few weeks. I dont get it. Any one want to volunteer to get this started? If not, I will, but I will need everyones name and address for the attorney and I am sure no one wants to post that on the website. So if someone wants to do this let us know and we will all get together our info for you and together we will shut the bloodsuckers down!!!!

Been There Done That, Shut 'Em Down

AUTHOR: David - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, January 06, 2005

I have read many reports about Drivetime/Ugly Duckling. I had financed a car from them in October 2002, and had many of the same problems that others have stated (i.e. breakdowns, refusal to cover items that were supposed to be "certified" or in good working order, etc...)...I too had spent plenty of money out of my own pocket due to bad brakes, faulty head gaskets, seals, etc. This company is nothing more than a black hand lending organization that preys on consumers with "less than perfect" or "bad credit" I had Drivetime make things right with the car, but only by threatening suit and constantly nagging them. I even submitted a report the the BBB, and they responded to that as well by fixing what I wanted fixed.

I got everything fixed, then paid for an extended warranty contract from another company, just so I wouldn't have to deal with the out of pocket expenses anymore. My co-workers, neighbors, family, and friends all received the same treatment and harrassment from them if I was a day late on a payment. That was the straw that broke the camel's back...I voluntarily surrendered the car, they sold it at auction for an intentional lesser amount, and tried to stick me with the bill.

The funny thing is, they expect me to pay it. I will not, and their tactics of court don't scare me. They've looked at my credit report, it's already fubar'd...and they think it will scare me to say it's going to affect my credit? Bahh....I buy cars for cash now, so they can collectively kiss my lilly white a*s. Drivetime, if you're reading this, and you probably are...you will get nothing from me. You will, however, get tons of negative reports on this site, that's obvious. You are, in fact, OWNED x 10...hope you enjoy the brutal treatment you're getting on these boards...just as we've all had to endure your brutal and dishonest behavior.

I relish this moment to the fullest. You reap what you sow, your time will come.

Lets get together

AUTHOR: Laurie - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, December 30, 2004

I recently traded in a car that I purchased 12 months ago . I called them and told them they would be getting a pay off from the new car dealer. I got a real loan with a real bank. The man told me I need to make payments till they get the payoff or they will report negatively to credit buruea. I beklieve that the car dealer requested a buyout from them and it had a date it was good through. They have called my neighbors, my father, my landlord and several other people because I stopped answering there calls. They know I traded it and the new dealer even spoke to them and confirmed it.These people need to be prosecuted. My landlord will not renew my lease now because of the harrassement from drive time.I believe there is enough for a law suit now.Our landlord didnt do a credit check when we moved in and we have never been late and now he knows we have had credit issues.

CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT

AUTHOR: Michael - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 07, 2004

I just had a Drive Time Manager call regarding an anonymous report I submitted last night about the extension they gave me and then denied several times. They figured out it was me and called me to "discuss" options.

This company is a joke, and if anyone is interested in any type of law suit or any member of the media would like me to help any way I can, feel free to contact me at once.

They obviously know they're not doing so great by calling us trying to make arrangements and plead with us to not contact the media or record their calls with their CSRs being rude over the phone.

Let's get this company SHUT DOWN--they don't even deserve to be called a 'company'; let's get this MICKY MOUSE OUTFIT SHUT DOWN!

Just like the rest of you, I to have had trouble with Drive Time/Ugly Duckling.

AUTHOR: D'Juan - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, April 05, 2004

I'm three - six months (It depends on who you speak with about your loan amount) away from paying off this POS off or they're still calling with their threats. I want to be part of any Class Action litigation any one starts, because they need to be shut down. They have called my family and friends exposed my business on payments that are 10 days late. I've even had Ms. Jackson from the Douglasville store call and state that she can call any one on my reference list and embarrass me, until they get their payments. She's annoying and her company is annoying. They are like Vultures waiting for a kill. She has even suggested that I go a check cashing business and take out a loan to pay them, is she crazy.

Let me know what needs to be done and I'm there for you.
