This company is sending interpreters that are non-certified. Most of the interpreters learned their sign languages from parents or friends. All of them were sloppy and hard to understand. One had a "hearing dyslexia" - meaning each word she did not know how to spell. One interpreter had bad carpal tunnels, and could not sign anymore after 10 minutes and asked that my hearing son interpret his own physical exam!! My son was only 9 years old at that time!

One interpreter forced me to talk after realizing that I could speak well. All interpreters had this habit of sharing their personal experiences/opinions. They were NOT clearly following the code of ethics when in a professional setting. One interpreter actually told me stories about a person in a distressful stituation at a hospital, and I KNEW the person. It was not my business and the interpreter apparently did not understand confidentality policies. Most of the interpreters I've had were all in a medicial setting.

This agency's owner at first was nice, and after so many mishaps with interpreters- he became rude with me, really nasty. Now he refuses to speak with me.
Also, when I went to the agency's website - all I found was practially nothing except for contact info. No real website does that! This Nazam acutally uses a PO box for his business. I think he is scamming agencies, and using people who can pass for any language to interpret in order to make money.

The ADA does not require certified interpreters

Bear in mind that the ADA does not require certified interpreters.  It requires qualified interpreters only.  While it certainly seems like the interpreter in question wasn't qualified, and indeed the company has indicated they are no longer employed there, it is important to remember that there is no "right" to a certified interpreter.  The only "right" a deaf person has is to a qualified interpreter.  Many interpreters who are well-qualified do not hold certification, for a variety of reasons.  On the other side of that, there are interpreters who have been certified but are not really qualified to interpret in many situations.  Unfortunately, certification is often assumed to mean qualification, but the two are actually not the same thing and the ADA only requires qualification.

This matter was discussed immediately with the Father. We further investigated the situation and this interpretor is no longer with our company. The issue at hand is that we understand the fathers complaints and resolved the situation right away with him, his choice to come on this website and exaggerate the actual events that happened is very childish and unprofessional. We at E-Z Translation services encourage this man to please try to contact us again. Any assumptions that we were ignoring him is grossly misunderstood. We also encourage anyone who questions the integrity of the company to stop by the office or call the contact number. We also encourage people to speak to the doctors and staff of the places we have been interpreting with for years if you have any concerns of being "scammed". As for the privacy issue, each interpretor signs a HIPPA form and if they are in violation of that contract and it is brought to our attention, we make sure that the proper course of action is taken as it was in this particular situation.
