Easy Care Vehicle Service Contract ripoff They refuse to honor service contract for which I paid $995.00 + financing charges.

On October 26, 2002 at the financial offices in Saturn of Colma, my wife and I agreed to purchase a Easy Care vehicle service contract. We wanted to have peice of mind buying a used Chevy Tahoe. This is our first used vehicle after many years of leasing and a never-late monthly payment status.

While driving our vehicle we begin to notice a lot of steering and over-compensating play in the wheel. Sometimes, suddenly sharply grabbing it away from your control on a long turn (like Sharp Park Rd. in Pacifica) Now today, November 8, 2002 - it is less than two weeks later, and after 3 trips back to the "Colma Pontiac Buick GMC" service department - we decided to have the vehicle inspected by our own mechanic at "Firestone" in Serramonte, where we have been a member and have had faithful and reliable experience service on previous cars since 1992.

Our mechanic at Firestone warned us that there was too much play in the Pitman arm, and idle arm assembly. That this was causing
the drifting problems. Now at this time, I call 'Easy Care" to ask them if they can fix this - as it is covered under Item #12 of their "STATED COMPONENT COVERAGE" STEERING which reads: "All lubricated parts contained within the Steering Gear Box, Rack Assembly, Control Valve; Power Steering Pump; Power Cylinder Assembly, Pitman Arm; Idler Arm; Tie Rod Ends; Drag Link; Steering Column Shaft and Coupling." (Quoted exactly as printed on contract).

Well "Easy Care" declined the repair - stating that "There were not enough miles on the car to warrent such wear."

This is outlandish! How can they make that decision in Atlanta Georgia for a vehicle in Colma, California (12 miles south of San Francisco) and it appears they would rather my wife risk her life going to Reno Neveda (tommorow) over the Donner Pass in order to show up for a p[possible job relocation offer. Have you ever seen the people by the side of the road with one wheel turned another direction than the other? DO you have any idea what happens with these things break? How that you lose steering control entirely?

Why purchase an "Easy Care" Service Contract if it does no good with something that threatens your safety (as a steering control arms in this instance).

This is not the end of this - I warn you ALL - DON'T BUY THEIR WARRENTY because they will not honor the simple but dangerous stuff - what do you think will happen when you have motor failure?

Anyone else out there get denied? Worse yet - any denial lead to an eventual accident?

-To be continued-

If this is a parts failure and not damage or abuse then this repair should be covered

I work with a Ford dealership in texas and work with apco contracts all the time. If this is a valid steering issue take the veh into a certified dealership and have the repair diagnosed again. at this time if apco wants to inspect for coverage issues they will. You did not mention the mileage on this vehicle. It Would also be to your benefit to contact them when the veh is going in to be diagnosed. If this is a parts failure and not damage or abuse then this repair should be covered--as long as you have that level of contract

Thanks
