I was considering signing up for classes with education direct and called the company to find out specifics about the course.

I have already built several computers but wanted to learn the few things that still were unknown or confusing to me.

I asked a phone rep about the computer technician course and got the impression he did not know anything about the course or about computers.

The rep did guarantee me that the course went into great detail about the areas I wanted to learn, like bios settings for example.

The rep completely lied to me and 6 months later when the course got to that point the workbook states"set the bios settings"

I immediately quit the course since this is not what I signed up for or what I was promised.
Now this school is sending things to collection companies for $525. Even though I was outright lied to and the course was not what I ordered they insist I pay.
This gets even better!!I did complete most of the course before it got to the point of bios settings(the rep must have known this comes late in the course and I would owe most of the course money) a friend of mine who was in a different course with this company completed only like 2 books and they are going after her for $564 which dosen't make sense since I did way more than her.

Do yourself a favor and do not sign up with this company, they will be polite and tell you what you want to hear to get your money but they will not give you a quality product or back up the product.

eric:how long have you worked for education direct???

AUTHOR: Joe - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, September 04, 2005

first off I did apply myself and went to a real school.
I am currently in an electronics course and my bills are paid in full.
I will not pay for a course i did not order however.
If you ordered a dodge viper on ebay for $50grand and the seller sent you pinto worth $50.00 instead would you pay the $50 grand??
you either wouldn't pay the bill or like getting screwed.
the book I bought at borders books for $9.99 covered more than the entire education direct course which is why i am suing that school for fraud.
for anyone else out their considering education direct I would advise you to call 10 employers and ask them if they hire education direct graduates and listen to them laugh and mock you.
the only thing you really get out of taking one of those courses is junk to burn in your fire place.thats the only use i found for my books.
oh yeah eric,I suppose all these other stories of people getting screwed from education direct are wrong too???must be a global conspiracy.
its a good thing a non education direct employee like you is just scanning the boards to set people straight.

Sounds like (to me) you just don't want to apply yourself to a good education. Also, pay your bills. Good credit is the foundation for a great life. Sorry you has such a bad experience with Education Direct.
