I have been in the car business for several years prior to this event (I am not any longer) and these events that toook place with my wife at Edwards Hyundai is the worst I have seen to date. First off, she went there alone looking to get into a new 2009 Santa Fe and the salesperson was polite and seemed like he wanted to help. After a vehicle was chosen, the offer he came back with and the ensuing phone calls are disgrace to the profession and to my wife as a human being.

His offer was $900/ month for 72 months (that's $64800 for those of you scoring at home) for a $26,000 vehicle. His excuse was our credit history, our upside down situation with our trade, and the fees involved with getting this approved. I used a loan calculator and could not get there from the numbers he presented. She asked for her keys to leave and he came back with an offer of $650 saying they found a better rate...so why wasn't this presented in the first offer? Oh yeah, in the car business they refer to this as trying to hit the "homerun", but in this case, they were looking to hit a 10 run home run. She finally got to leave after being humiliated and a voicemail left by the salesperson some time later literally told her the following: "Well, we can get you to a payment of around $375 if you would take the trade out of the equation, and then let it go back after our loan is secure." Here is a dealership employee telling us to let our car get repossessed because the new loan will begin rebuilding our credit right away...are you serious?

He then calls back a little later and leaves another message stating that while they can't get to the $375 as previously suggested in the last voicemail, they can get to around $550 and that is still better than driving our current used vehicle for a new one. Here is the last point, it wasn't even a brand new one as it had over 6,000 miles on it because they used it as a loaner. I felt like I had to take a shower after hearing this story and my wife was completely beside herself with this whole ordeal. Stay away from this dealership at all costs and if Hyundai had any sense at all, they would revoke the license of this dealer as well as Subaru, since they sell these as well, and the state should slap a huge fine for behaviors exhibited by this organization.
