Yet another in a long list of people scammed in the El Cid vacation club. Last October I booked a room at the El Cid resort just outside Cancun. The stay there was nice and we had the all inclusive package and everything was good until we were talked into doing the vacation club presentation. Right from the start they were fetching us drinks and feeding us the steady stream of lies.

Right from the start we had mentioned that we weren't into buying a "Timeshare" because of our schedules we couldn't pin point when our vacations would be. That's when they told us how perfect this deal was because we got to choose the time and place for our vacations. They also stated that there were no black out dates or restrictions and that all ended up being outright lies.

Our club represenative walked us through a fancy website we could use our points on and showed us all the different cruises we could do for the 126,000 points we got with our package. (This was after they showed us several other expensive packages) It turns out for the points we got you can't really book a cruise for 2 without funding several hundred dollars of additional funds.

For the nearly $3,000 dollars we had paid there is nothing we could use out of the package and what they also forgot to mention was that they expire if not used within a set time frame. They also outright lied about being able to use them during the holiday season.

I am in talks with my credit card company right now who are investigating the fraudulent circumstances for which the contract was under. I understand now why they were carting us in drinks and why they gave us a full bottle of champagne just before having us sign the documents.

For any one reading this that is going to one of these resorts, switch to another reputable place now and don't get pulled in by these scammers. Take your money and spend it with a resort that won't take advantage of you and cheat you while you are on vacation.

In addition after talking with one of their customer service people they laughed me off the phone and said thats what happens when you drink in Mexico. Guess we will have to see what my credit card company has to say about that.

I've spent a lot of money and i was scammed by other companies trying to cancel my timeshare.
My advice is that if you're going to hire a company to help you with the problem, DO NOT PAY ANYTHING UPFRONT, because it use to be a fraud.
I did a research on internet and i found some interesting articles, i recommend you to read this one:
