This company has been nothing but lies, avoidance, and scams all around! I put a deposit for a vehicle down in 2013 that was promoted to be sold at 6,800 and put into production the next year. Well its 2015, and come to find out that this deposit was nothing but a lie to steal my money from me because it's two years later, and nothing has went into fruitition!
Everytime they set a deadline to showcase or promote something they don't show up or have an excuse, and its clear to me what is going on here. A SCAM!!
I chose to place a deposit down of 1,000 in December of 2013, and now that I don't want anything to do with this project anymore, the company has avoided any inquiries of me receiving my money back even though I have called and emailed them dozens of times-which I have documented. Now I've resorted to writing many reviews to expose the truth about Elio Motors.
They haven't made a vehicle, yet two years later they are promoting it like its going to be produced tomorrow? Please! Just more lies, and scams all around. They are holding my money against my will, and all I want is my money back so I can be done with this foolery.

December 2017

I'm hearing it'll come together this year, pretty likely. Hard to understand "foolery" with their delicately phrased "future looking statements" caveats all over. Buyer's remorse hurts, yes, agreed.

If you're in for a thousand like some of us, get down on your knees and pray for the personal-auto invention to occur. Resist the urge to bite at that hand fo now.

It can't get much worse than that this year, our year of the rooster (aka"Twitler"!) Seven more Gs seems $ better spent than haggling in court with firm's advocate, retained by defendant, no doubt.

That's all I got for you. All the best.

Misguided

AUTHOR: Neal - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, March 06, 2015

This project has no traits of being a scam. It has every trait of a start-up company running into some "speedbumps". I can not even imagine the Red tape and financing it would take to start a small business, much less a company with the goals and finances that Elio is reaching for.

Will Elio succeed? Who knows. Like any start-up company, there are many hurdles to overcome. And I doubt a company who is scamming people would spend the kind of money they spend for product developement and marketing. A company trying to scam would not pay a top tier company to develop and engineer a new engine. They would not spend the time and money to lobby and change state laws (regarding helmet and motorcycle license) all over the country. Their Vice President would not sell his house and most of his belongings and travel the country with his wife in an RV to promote Elio for an extended time.

And anyone who did any research and read any of the agreement when putting down a deposit should understand the risks involved. The agreement specifically states that there are no guarantees. There is also a big difference in telling lies and missing deadlines. I have seen no indication, and I doubt you can provide any, that Elio has purposely deceived anyone. I truely beleive they have had every intention of meeting stated goals. Companies miss dealines all the time. It just hits home more for us because we have monay invested in the project. At this point, efforts like this will do nothing more than make things harder for Elio and hurts chances even further.

I Shouldn't Have to Blow Up a "Respectable Companies" emails to get one generic answer.

AUTHOR: J.T. - ()

POSTED: Saturday, February 14, 2015

That's nice Jim, however I personally know someone who's reservation is refundable...and guess what? It's been a week later and Elio still has not answered their emails. What exactly makes an all in customer different from a customer with a refundable deposit? A bumper sticker, a spot in line, and a t-shirt? Oh ok. Elio Motors can keep that.

I don't care about being called petty-I want my money back. I don't care if Elio has an unendorsed "contract" with no one's name or date on it and tries to hold it against people's will pretending to be as intimidating as Sallie Mae-I want my money back. I don't care that this false "contract" tries to tell people that Elio doesn't guarantee anything at all to people besides a spot even though Elio is endorsing and promoting differently on their webpage and Facebook which to me IS CALLED FRAUD-I want my money back!

Elio is not progressively doing anything besides spending up deposits on travel fees, road shows, hotels, and extravagent dinners. Everytime they have something scheduled they bail or have a poor excuse-which clearly you can see on their Facebook has left bad tastes in plenty of people's mouths.
Also, you cannot only make reservations online-you can also do it in person at their roadshows/rip-off rodeos.
I do not know why others are so pressed and upset about people wanting to get their money back and move on instead of waiting in limbo. I just want my money back so I can buy a real driving car and not one imaginary nonexistant car that has another companies engine in it. They keep trying to make Elio Motors happen-and guess what?! The lie detector determined that this is false. It will never happen.

Elio Motors is a respectable company

I am "all in" at the $1000 level too.  If you have a refundable reservation you should contact Elio Motors directly, preferably by certified mail with signature confirmation, or at least by e-mail.  Explain clearly what your question, concern is and timeframe you expect an answer in.  I have had contact with Elio Motors directly via e-mail on two occasions, one was general and one was serious, and they responded within 24 hours to both email.

Mailing address: Elio Motors, Inc. 2942 North 24th Street
Suite 114-700 Phoenix, AZ 85016
Email: Available 24/7 –tellmemore@eliomotors.com

Phone Hours: M-F 9am – 3pm Central Time

Toll Free: 1-844-BuyElio (1-844-289-3546)

Direct: (480) 500-6800 Ext. 1

It was very clear when I made my reservation for an Elio that it is not 100% guaranteed the vehicle will be produced by a specific date or even at all.  They are currently securing funding they need (aproximately $175 millon still to raise, they already have aproximately $65 million) to go into prodution in the first half of 2016.  After due diligence (not using on-line blogs/magaizines) looking at regular news outlet reports (KSLA 12, Wall Street Journal, CNN, etc), checking with listed partners, checking their previous private placement filings with the SEC, and Elio Motors, it was clear to me Elio Motors is agressivly pursuing building their vehicle and are getting very close, for me that sealed the deal.

I agree Elio has had three production dates set back which I find frustrating too. I also know it is increadibly hard to start a new company, even more challenging starting a new vehicle manufacturing company.  Elio Motors has had a number of challenges getting to production, this is not unusual, nor does it indicate they are a "scam".

Elio Motors offers two types of "reservations" one is refundable also referred to as "want in" and one is non refundable also referred to as "all in".  You can check that out on their website here http://www.eliomotors.com/  and click on the Reserve Your Elio Today tab.  You can read about the differences between refundable and non refundable reservations on their website here. Make up your own mind whether it is clear or not.

You can only make a reservation on-line, and like signing up to purchase anything online, there are very clear written agreements you must electronically sign off on.

While I can empathise with people who do not like to wait, I think it's important to point out Elio Motors is a legitimate company committed to creating a safe, affordable, fuel efficient, four season vehicle for private transportation needs and will be built in America.  Will Elio Motors ultimately succeed or fail I do not know, but I prefer to cheer for good paying American manufacturing jobs.

Paperwork Who?!

AUTHOR: J.T. - ()

POSTED: Saturday, February 14, 2015

Jim,
There was NO paperwork signed/endorsed. Even in the emails that I have received from them as my receipt, there is NO signature from me-only my card number and the card company. This is a breech of promise!
I have reported them to multiple channels exposing people to their lies!
They emailed me this morning after numerous attempts in contacting them with a haughty attitude, and no proof.
Which is exactly why I'm looking into small claims court as I write this, and I WILL be geting my money refunded.

Paperwork?

AUTHOR: Jim - ()

What does the paperwork, which you should have signed governing the deposit say about it?

Consider small claims court.
