The breeder sold me a bulldog puppy, took pup to vet where the vet said it had very loose hips. The vet said it could either be malnutrition or genetic defeats that would cause this. Went back to breeder and she said to get a second opinion. The breeder paid for these X-rays and again the vet said the hips were not good and the pup could be in severe pain her entire life.

The breeder said to come back later to exchange the puppy. When we called to set up a time to see the new litter, she said she couldn't help us and started screening our phone calls.

Now she won't refund the money or exchange the puppy.
I contacted the Bulldog Club of America and the Breeder Referral Coordinator said that she has heard very bad things about this breeder including that she is running a puppy mill and and mistreated other bulldogs in the past. The Bulldog Club of America will gladly tell anyone who contacts them the same.

I really do not want to see any one else hurt, nor do I want anyone to encourage her to produce more puppies. Especially if she is not feeding and nurturing them properly!!!

In Support of Soundra

AUTHOR: Clw - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, August 26, 2008

This report is absolutely and utterly incorrect. Soundra and Rex do nothing but love their dogs and care for every puppy that they breed and sell. If you have ever been to the Bullbabies Ranch and see where they live and are cared for, it's evident. There is no puppy-mill, there are no abused dogs, only a family of unbelievably sweet dogs.

As mentioned above, just because one dog has a health defect, that doesn't mean all of the dogs have something wrong or Soundra is not taking care of her puppies.

I have a now 2 year old bulldog that we got from Soundra that is the sweetest dog you will ever meet. Yes, she does have minor health issues, but that runs in the English Bulldog breed. If you want a dog with no health issues, good luck finding any breed that suits your needs.

If you are looking for an English Bulldog puppy, I would tell you Eliot's bullbabies is the place to go. Go visit Soundra and Rex, all of their dogs, and fall in love, instantly. See for yourself.

I understand that Amanda will no longer be commenting on this post, I wish to tie up a loose end. While her situation is heartbreaking and unfortunate I feel very strongly that her allegations are misguided. I am the proud mommy of Maverick, my little boy was born on December 7, 2007. I have a very healthy, happy, sweet pup and couldn't be more satisfied. The reason for this response it to address the statement that Soundra is asking her happy owners to respond on this board. I, personally found this site from google-ing Soundra's name. I was curious as to what may have or have not been said about her prior to purchasing Maverick. To the best of my knowledge, Soundra does not even know that I posted on here. I am not a contracted "happy owner" just trying to save her reputation.

Trying to verify BCA reference...

AUTHOR: Amanda - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, February 25, 2008

Well, I can only tell you the truth. The vet said my dog's hips were faulty due to malnuitrition or genetics. Not only that, but the vet that said it was Soundra's vet she uses all the time in Marysville. The vet said this to Soundra's face while I was standing there. She paid for the visit and for the X-rays. I'd call that an admission of guilt. I'm not a vet, so what can I say?
I
tried to verify that the BCA is now saying she's a good breeder. The guy is different than the woman I talked to 2 years ago that mentioned she had multiple dings against her. Your supposed to email or call and leave a message and I've had no returned emails or phone calls. I'm sorry the BCA is no longer keeping record of good or bad breeders. Perhaps they are taking AKC's stance and just listing the people who breed and saying no more. I'd certainly understand that from a legal point of view.
My dog is suffering because of Soundra Elliott's poor judgement & treatment of her dogs. It's dumb luck that she has some good dogs out there.

You're lucky if you have a healthy pup. I'm guessing she's only having the good dogs' owners review this message. I know I'm not the only one out there. This website was created for people like me. There was a serious, unresolved issue. I'm only trying to help as many people as I can. I no longer live anywhere near Soundra. It's been 2 years and I have to forgive her and move on, otherwise it's just heart breaking. There's no sense in reliving this issue over and over. This will be my last message since this is so hard on me. Take care and good luck.

Unfair, Unfounded criticism

AUTHOR: Tiffany - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, January 07, 2008

Amanda, before I begin I would like to thank you for your warning against Sandy Elliott. My husband and I were researching Bulldog breeders and were happy to find your post. We took your complaint into careful consideration while looking for our breeder. However, I contacted the BCA as your report instructs and received no negative information regarding elliotts bull babies.

We took this a step further and went to the bulldog reunion (as referenced in the previous response), spoke to current and previous owners, no poor reports. We contacted various vets, local Bulldog cubs and references provided by them with no negative information. Finally, we have dropped in on both Sandy and Carla (her co-breeder) unannounced and have yet to find poor conditions.

What happened to you is very sad and unfortunate. I do not think it is right that you are posting such slanderous material because of one (possibly two, according to your cruelty allegations) poorly handled situation(s). We are happy to report that we have built a relationship with Sandy and Carla built on trust (obviously a lot of research too!) and our first "Elliotts Bullbaby", Maverick, will be coming home to us in 3 weeks.

Response to rebuttal

AUTHOR: Amanda - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, December 23, 2007

I am happy to hear that you have 2 healthy puppies. I'm sure that will color your response. Besides, I can only guess that ColumbusBully is her partner or it is Soundra herself.

My family used to breed labs. And yes, I understand strange diseases do pop up. Any time an unhealthy pup was recognized, we gladly allowed the family to exchange for a healthy pup. We always raised the puppy to ensure it would have a happy life despite the unfortunate disease. A responsible breeder who cares about their reputation will gladly do that sort of thing without even thinking about it. Please note that the vet said this was due to either malnutrition or a genetic problem. Breeders should not be breeding at all unless it can promote the species good attributes.

This is absolutely NOT the first offense for Soundra. I did not wish to get into details earlier, but the main contact lady (I forget her name now, as it is 2 years later...) from the Bulldog Club of America told me about how animal services was called on Soundra to pick up a female that was balding. Note that this is not a life threatening illness. Animal services showed up to pick up the bulldog and found it tied to the mail box in the dead of winter with no food or water. They had no idea how long the animal had been there. I have to guess no criminal charges stuck, but this certainly is cruel.

Once again, if you are interested in purchasing a puppy from her, please call the Bulldog Club of America to ask for a recommendation. AKC can not make referrals or accept complaints on a breeder, so the BCA is the best place to start.

Unfair report of a very well respected individual

AUTHOR: Columbusbully - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, December 21, 2007

We are the proud parents of two bulldogs from Sandy Elliott and the dogs are in perfect health. She certainly does not run a puppy mill. Calling her an unethical breeder is slanderous and should be removed. She cares greatly about her dogs and their health. She even held a family reunion this year where over 60 bulldogs were in attendance. All of the dogs were happy and healthy. One unhealthy pup out of ten years of breeding doesn't mean she is wronging people. Animals are living beings and sometimes they are born with an abnormality. That is how mother nature works. I suggest devoting your time and energy into loving and caring for your puppy, I'm sure that is what would be best for the dog.
