My name is Gene Cook. I worked for eLocal Listing for about 18 months. My last day was Friday April 10th, 2009. I resigned my position as Production Supervisor/Special Project Manager to pursue my vocation as a pastor.

Just for the record I want to say that eLocal is one of the best companies that I have ever worked for. I am in my mid 40's so I have had a few jobs in my life.

Elocal Listing consists of a group of highly motivated individuals that truly care about the service they provide for their customers. They work long and hard to do everything they can to achieve the best ranking results for their clients. The reality is that we are in an unstable economy and most of the defamation that has taken place on this site is is coming from people who were laid off due to necessary expense cuts. (just like millions of other Americans)

It pains me to read some of the immature garbage on this website. People grow up!

My husband Jeremy did for a while operate as a reseller for E Local. I understand how things can get misconstrued, and peoples perceptions of what is going on become a absolute truth to them.
I would often frequent my husbands office. He always tried to get the reps to be honest and not slam business. I was there with him the first day he opened and the last day he was in business. It is almost impossible to monitor a room full of of people 100% of the time. I completely agree that sometimes reps definately lie. That is an absolute truth for any tele sales company. However, to completely blame Jeremy for other peoples choices is absurd. Whats even more apalling is to state facts about someone that truely you know nothing about.
I am not opposed to holding someone accountable, I completely agree when someone is wrong that they need to take responsibility.

I hear a lot of stuff about my brother Todd Johnson. You either love him or you hate him...I know when you come into contact with a lot of people there tends to be a lot of opportunity,especially in forums like this to character assassinate people. Todd has never proclaimed to be a perfect person. However, I know for a fact, that my brother would never maliciously hurt someone. I know a lot of people, and Todd is an absolute amazing man. First let me start by saying how appauled I am that someone would soil my name with elocal like this by possing as me. Secondly, elocal afforded me several oppertunities including the oppertunity to further my career as a professional. To set the record straight (and so the company knows its me) I took a voluntary lay-off as my possition had been discontinued and I was offered the chance to stay with the company which I chose not to do. Considering I am still a stock holder it would not be in my best interest to soil elocals name as I have a personal financial interest in the company. I was also was the best recruiter elocal has seen (besides Todd Johnson of course) to date and my numbers in employee retention percentiles tell this tale quite clearly. I started with the company as a sales rep. moving my way up to management and then into 2nd level management answering only to the Director of H.R. (Human Resources) and her superiors.

Allot of elocal's current and ex-employee's may hold personal grudges against me as I did enforce company policies, rules, and ethics of conduct for the Human Resources department. This did include issuing verbal warnings, offense write-ups, suspentions, lay-offs, and teminations.

I was not handed this possition. As a Sales Manager I was offered the possition of "Recruiter" which I was not qualified for but accepted. Reckognizing this I immediately began courses for Recruiting and Job Interview Practices (NOTE: elocal offered to pay for these classes but I refused the help) which I successfully completed. After months of operating as the "Recruiter" I was asked by the H.R. Director if I would like to move to human resources as the "H.R. Corporate Recruiter" taking on more responsibilities and challenges which I gladly accepted. I then started classes to obtain my Human Resources Management Certification which was acheived Sept. 8th 2008.

I am not hear to confirm nor deny any allegations against elocal, only to clear my name from this rancid mess of fakes and frauds claiming to be me.
Elocal was a roller coaster ride of good and bad as all things in life are. I harbor no ill-will or malice for elocal listing and wish them all the best in their companies continued success.

Yes, it is true that WebPros.net did actually do SEO work (subcontracted) for Zone Communications in the past and even was going to do the SEO work for them when they became Elocal. By then Steve Espinosa figured he knew enough about SEO in a few months (I had spent 12 years learning it myself) that they decided to try (unsuccessfully I might add) to take my methods and do it on thier own. Nothing wrong with that. I've always believed it was healthy competition.

I might point out however that while I was working for them, EVERY site that I optimized for them (about 150) has proven reports and I still keep the stats to this day.

As for having a P.O Box?? This is not hiding. For the first 11 years I was a single full time father raising my daughter and working from home. I have to ask, would YOU put your home business address on your website? So I've always had a UPS Center mailbox instead.

Final response is to the "stealing" of Elocal clients. This guy has apparently been working for them to believe this one. Being a small industry, in the last year as I finally expanded and brought on new sales teams, turns out a couple of them had been past Elocal employees and DID call old Elocal clients to win them over. My only problem was reports of these sales representatives referring them to this site to show them what people were saying about Elocal. As soon as this was discovered to be happening these sales members were no longer allowed to sell on the behalf of WebPros. But you know, to call an existing customer of another company and offering them a better service at a better price is NOT "stealing", it is simply good business.

Ok Honest Avenger, lets start poking holes into your arguments.

First off, it is not only a place for customer complaints, but also employee complaints and inside information on any company. So make sure you understand that before sounding like an oaf. Second why should anyone have to prove their identity when you yourself claim to be 1) Honest and 2) an Avenger. You obviously are not honest because you hide behind a name and speak on behalf of the company, as if you were a person in power there able to take care of issues. Third, you claim that these so called attacks are getting old, when on the contrary they are not attacks but TRUTHS and continue because the company still practices the exact same policies that it accepts (let me name a few: sexual harassment, harassment, drug abuse, discrimination, and fraud). Fourth, why would you want to meet? Is for a sexual rendezvous, if so I am so not interested in any of you dinosaurs.

Could you imagine, that if these issues were resolved a long time ago, and I mean a LONG TIME ago, the company may actually be profitable. The employees would look up to senior management as corporate mentors and champions. This is how it ought to be, not what you want it to be.

This forum first started off as a place for customers to complain about our service. We have no problem with that. However, you have turned it into a public smear campaign. Dragging untrue claims out in the open for all to read. This is simply not right. It must be stopped.

So, here is what we propose. Prove your identity and your questions will be answered. You agree to stop the personal mud slinging, although you are free to challenge the quality of any of our products or introduce any customers with specific issues. You have my word we will address them one by one.

You can prove your identity only in one way -- post a URL to a picture of yourself holding a sign saying "Honest Avenger". You take it down as soon as I have seen it and posted a reply. If you truly are Jared and Miguel, this is something you can easily do today. My concern is you could be someone else, posing as Miguel or Jared. I do not wish to tarnish the name of more innocent people.

Jared does have several valid arguments, and they are not lies. What you are trying to do is to attack his integrity by alleging he is a drug addict of sorts. Now that being said, are not 90%+ of employees working for eLocal or any of its DBAs all from Todd Johnsons AA group? Are they not the same guinea pigs that were used to test a NON-FDA approved drug treatment pill. Regardless of Jared's actions in the past or present, eLocal condones and or nourishes this type of environment. If you are not a drug addict or a sex participant, they want nothing to do with you and you will end up fired. Because of this sexually charged atmosphere there is really no way to get work done without always feeling the pressure of having to participate in the drug parties and or having to put out for some old POS.

There are a few things to understand here, eLocal should have sold long ago, but greed got in the way. There is no way for them to make it out of this mess they have gotten themselves into. Also they made their choices about who to keep at the company, because despite the complaints of sexual harassment and the sex groups going on, these people are still there and everyone who complained is fired. Marie congrats on marriage number two BTW, I know Scott approves of your life style. If Carolee allows you to have your ceremony at her place of residence, she is no better then you and should be treated as such. A filthy w***e! What does Carolee do when she wanders off with Allison? Anyone know? Phil please make sure that you tighten her leash, I would not advise to have Carolee seen parading around Temecula with Super w***e. Amazing how things like this can have gone on for over two years, but hey if you have a job doing nothing, and you get to screw the boss(es) all the time. I guess it works for some people.

Their service that they sell is something anyone can do. Various companies far larger than eLocal have started and sold already. They are just trying to get as much out of the company as they can. They have ZERO expertise on what they would like to consider their product. However they do have talent, don't get me wrong. Some of the talent just needs to have some corporate mentoring in order to bring out some of these hidden skills.

That brings me to the root cause of the eLocal disease. If at the top, you discuss the breast of your subordinates at lets say a Christmas party, and or ever other word is an expletive then there in lies the problem. Tim condones this type of behavior, but it could be from his Napoleon Complex (google it, you'll laugh). So if the CEO sponsors and condones this type of behavior it is no wonder why the trash is still running the show. eLocal had so much potential, but when you run a company you need to treat it as such and not a play ground for your sexual escapades.

So people be warned, no one is getting funding these days, and eLocal does not have unlimited resources. Every suing eLocal good luck and I hope you win, if you need anything please let me know, I would be more than happy to assist in anyway I can.

Such hostility since you used to WORK for this company..... until you GOT FIRED for not doing a decent job hiring people. For those reading this, Jared Baggins, (JBag) used to be the Corporate Recruiter for eLocal Listing. He actually hired me.

On a second note, Why would you even mention eLocal Hosting. You were still here when they switched to Web Development, and not the listing "product". Last I checked, a website WAS a product... You're just as bad as Miguel. eLocal was a step in your life. Show your age and maturity by moving on gracefully... Oh wait.... no maturity...

And for the record, you didn't get screwed... Downsizing happens to every company. YOu were offerend a different position and then bitched about having to go through training again and left. so eLocal didn't screw you, YOU SCREWED yourself by showing up to work baked all the time, the constant rambling to yourself, the sweat beads rolling off your face... do your employers know about your habits???
