Encanto PRC (AKA Selective Escapes); Jay Boeck (Residence Salesman); Elizabeth Barrios (Customer Service); and Interval International (Exchange Company) On Apr 8, 2013 we bought a 3 bdrm 2wk/yr floating Private Residence ownership for 25 yrs. To reduce our cost they kept the 2wks from 2013 (making them $6000) and 1wk for the first 5 yrs for marketing purposes. Our first available week was Jan 2014. We called to see if they wanted our Jan '14 wk for marketing only to find out the call "cannot be completed at this time". An email we sent must have been forwarded to El Faro (Resort). They replied back that "Encanto is not doing the administration of the properties any more, they left hanging more than 600 reservations and contracts." I called El Faro and spoke to Alejandra Juarez in member services. She basically informed me that Encanto took the money and left, leaving only some files behind. She is going to look up our contracts and see what she has. She informed me for $3000 we can transfer our contract to El Faro PRC directly. I believe we are basically out thousands of dollars. What a scam! Playa Del Carmen Quintana Roo

Due to legal jargon and specific terms used we apparently authorized them to take our money.  Although we never received the services we payed for, it is past the 60 - 90 day limit to dispute credit card charges.  We are apparently out almost $15,000.  We are considering filing a report with local authorities and pursuing this legally but are unsure if it will be worth our while in the end.  We have all the corroboration documentation and contracts.  We are seriously considering a class-action suit.  Is anyone else a victim that would like to pursue this?

Encanto ripped us off too!

AUTHOR: DWallin - ()

My husband and I joined the vacation club with Encanto as well for El Faro. Imagine my surprise when I went to book today and found Encanto is no longer around. We are out a great deal of money as well. Please get in touch with us if you are pursing a class action! Thanks!

Encanto-potential interest in a class-action lawsuit

AUTHOR: Lauren and Gary - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, January 29, 2014

We are experiencing a very similar situation with Encanto and will more than likely file a separate report on this website once we gather more information.

On Sunday, we received the email from "Alejandro Juarez" that "Encanto does not exist anymore, they left and did not honor the contracts with the members." On Monday, we received another email from the same individual stating that for $3,000.00, the new administration could honor our current contract. We have not contacted them.

Since this time, I have been reading all that I can on the internet about Encanto. It is very clear that this is a scam and that those of us affected need to come together in some organized fashion to address this situation. We gave Encanto $21,000 as well as 2 of our existing timeshares (one in Florida and another in Cancun) in order to purchase 5 weeks per year at Encanto. Three of these weeks we gave back to them for 5 years (2013-2017) as part of their "rental program." We saw no rental income in 2013 although we were promised to receive $9,000.00 ($3,000.00 per week), which we have in writing.

This said, we unfortunately have much invested and may be interested in a class-action lawsuit and any other information that could help us to address this. We would sincerely appreciate any information that could help in this regard.
