Evelyn Lutz breeds tiny yorkshire terriers. She called me when she had a litter born because she knew I was interested in finding a playmate for my yorkie. When I visited her she told me I could have my choice of the two puppies just born and we agreed on a price of $3,000(even though that's high for a pet quality yorkie, I had just been through an ordeal with another breeder and she knew I was anxious to find a puppy).
When it came time to pick out and pay for the puppy she announced that she was keeping the smaller one or selling it for $4500 and I could only choose the larger one for $3,000. I reminded her that she had told me(in front of witnesses) that I could have my choice and that even at $3,000 that was a lot of money to pay for a pet quality puppy, no way was I going to pay more than that and didn't feel comfortable purchasing from her. She then told me she just had her 2 pound female bred, which is an absolutely horrible thing to do to an animal that small.
She's extremely unethical, repeatedly breeding dogs too small and having c sections, keeping them outside all day long in hot weather, lying about lineage and using bait and switch methods to increase her price. She also went back and forth on who she used for stud for the puppy(once she said she paid $800 for a stud fee then changed it to using her own male).
What hurt me the most was the sudden change of not allowing me the choice, which had been a big factor in why I was willing to pay so much and then raising the price on the smaller one, all in front of my 10 year old. That's just rotten.

I want to comment on yorkies. That was my 2nd choie of pet when adopting a shih-tzu. I thought about and researched each breed. I chose shih-tzu classic black and white gorgeous markngs as I had imaginied my shih-tzu too look. 03 of june I never heard of smaller shih-tzus then. But was not breeding but looking for pet and that is what I got from a local breeder. PLease their is people out there waiting to exploite any breed that they feel is hot commodity. PLEASE CHECK YOUR BREEDER CAREFULLY. ASK HOw MANY YEARS BREEDING such a small breed.
I personally have had a runt in litter of 2 standard size shih-tzu they are so tiny. this comment is to only educate potential buyers of YORKIES and IS NOT targeting any breeder or business. I understand from some local well respected breeder that @one time the yorkie was 12 pounds. They are gorgeous @ 4to 5 pounds I agree but be carefull which breeder did the down sizing. AK MANY Questions DO NOT be sooo mislead by pretty pictures. This could go for any breed. yes this is michelle wo loves to make comments on rock ripoffreport.com

I do believe that this person believed I would pay any price she could come up with and she even told me that on the internet she has seen yorkies go for $7,000. The female she was breeding has only one eye and can be seen on her site, does not look like a standard registered yorkie. I honestly never thought that her puppies would even be as high as $3,000(around where I live they go for $700-$1200). I'd like to think I'm much more informed now and please do your homework before buying from a petstore or back yard breeder.
