Expedia & United Airlines United Air Lines Completely screwed up ticket & cannot travel for 6-8 weeks San Diego, California

*Consumer Suggestion: Don't Use 3rd Party Booking Agencies

Show customers why they should trust your business over your competitors...

Made a simple round trip plane reservation from San Diego to St. Louis.  Used their 877 number because their web-form was trying to double charge me (round trip both ways).  Their human being customer service person typoed my last name wrong. He got my last name RIGHT for the American Express card and the hotel and so it is clear he hit the wrong key (O is next to P) and the reservation was made for the wrong name.  The typo is OBVIOUS and Expedia did it.  When they emailed the confirmation I saw the misspelling and called -- they refused to fix it.  Hours of on-hold (half hour each call) talked to India, Phillipines, Eastern Europe -- nobody can fix it.  Called American Express (they will "investigate" but 6-8 weeks and NO TRAVEL meanwhile).  Called UAL -- they refuse to fix it (on hold time -- Rhapsody in Blue for HOURS) .. all over the US .. on-hold, transfers, call other numbers (they necer call me -- I have to do all the calling): net result . [continued below]....
...... nobody can fix it. You cannot use it if it doesn't match your ID.  Called (others) and canceled my trip (a reunion).  Not going to travel THIS summer.  I AM GOING TO REFUSE TO PAY and that includes IF I need to cancel the American Express card.  Would you pay $30 for a ticket you cannot use?  For a hotel you cannot get to?  For a car you cannot drive?  Thank you Expedia.. you idiots.  Thank you India .. thank you Manila   Thank you under-literate unaccountable pigeon English morons.  And now you know what's wrong with the American economy and why there are so few jobs.   All of this travel apparatus and it cannot be purchased for the sake of inept customer service reps.

You paid $30 for a plane ticket? No wonder the screwed up. If it sounds too good to be true, it is.... However, there is no way United is liable in this, Expedia screwed up, and they should make good. But alas, they never do.

#3 Consumer Suggestion

Don't Use 3rd Party Booking Agencies

AUTHOR: Karl - (U.S.A.)

Why not book directly with the airline using its web site?  I never use 3rd party booking agencies except for rental cars and I suggest that next time you might try booking with the airline you are flying. For one thing the airline has no interest in solving a problem if one comes up because you didn't book with them. Also if you book by phone you always run the risk if someone spelling you name wrong. It is better to type it in yourself on an airline web site.
