We purchased a package on Expedia.com and selected their Trip Insurance. ( Hotel and Air )  We had to cancel our trip due to scheduling conflicts. Expedia refunded us the hotel portion of the trip in full and gave us a credit on the air towards future travel. All is good so far.  About a month later, which is today, we found another trip and started the process to book the trip online. I got to the last page before you enter the credit card number and it gave me an itenarary number. I then called Expedia.com to give them the intenarary number, so they can apply my credit of the airline portion from the last trip to this trip. I had found another package that included Hotel and Air for $4200.00. The Expedia rep informed me that the package would have to be booked seporatly, instead of together and the price was now $4900. I asked them why and they told me it was because of there system would not allow them to apply the credit because it was airline only. I told them, " Look, I originally purchased a package, flight and air, purchased trip insurance, had to cancel, now I am rebooking the trip, and you are telling me that it has to be booked seporatly then before because your system cannot apply the credit ? If I originally purchased a package, and I had to cancel the trip, why would I not be able to purchase another package and get them to apply the credit. The TRIP INSURANCE is a scam if you buy a package. Now, it would be fine if I intended to just buy a plane ticket, but I don't buy plane tickets directly from Expedia. I buy plane tickets by themseleves directly from the airlines.

Bottom line is, Be sure when you book a trip, you are able to go, because Trip insurance is a scam, and they do not disclose it properly. It is false advertising. I almost compare this to going into a store and buying a shirt that is onsale for $100.00.... 2 days later, I decide that I do not want the shirt, and I want to exchange it for another shirt that is onsale for $100.00. But the clerk informs me that I would have to pay full sale price for the shirt, instead of getting it for the $100 price that it is on sale for, because its a credit. EXPEDIA TRIP INSURANCE is a scam. Dont use Expedia!
