Basically this shows you picked the wrong airport, plain and simple. The website doesn't assume you're going from a specific location--it's asking you to clarify.

Obviously you do not fly very much. I have flow back and forth to Europe over eight times in the past year and my round trip tickets cost anywhere from $434 to $1,200 depending on how much advance notice. I purchased this ticket with a two week advance notice. So the answer to your question is YES!

During the process of ordering a ticket on Expedia if you type the words Athens Greece... You get three different selections. Why would they offer other countries when you clearly type the words athens Greece, and why would they not indicate the Letters U.S.A. after Athens, GA? And now knowing several others have experienced this would they not change the Website to make it clear?

First, please don't use all CAPS, makes it very difficult to read.

I've never used Expedia so I feel I am a novice on that site. I put in dates for flying from Athens to BWI. The next screen pops up and asks which Athens do I want

Athens, GA (AHN)
Elmira, NY (ELM-Elmira-Corning Regional)

I think it is pretty clear.

If you had specifically put in airport code AHN that tells Expedia you wanted to leave from Athens, Georgia not Athens, Greece whose airport code is ATH.

I know it is frustrating but you, not Expedia, made the mistake. Once a flight has departed you have little recourse in getting any compensation back because your seat is gone.
