On 3-7-06 Expert Driveway gave us a bid of $7,990 to build a parking ramp and tar the driveway. He said he would guarentee his work for ten years and it is written in our contract so we let them do the work as it sounded like a good deal.

They completed the work and we had our first rain. The north side of the parking ramp washed out and the tar was hanging in mid air. We called them on 6-7-06 to report what had happened and asked if they would fix it or report it to their insurance company. They just laughed and said it was " an act of God" and couldn't do anything about it.

On 6-7-06 we took pictures of all the damage. On 6-20-06 we again called Expert driveways that the tar was cracking even more. They did not answer so left a message. On 6-21-06 Expert Driveway returned my call and said they knew we had a problem and when they had time they would look at it.

They never came so to save the parking ramp we had to hire another company to build a retaining wall to save the dirt wnigh had not been packed properly from shifting. This cost us an addittional $5000. This kept the ground from shifting futher.

The tar continues to crack so had another contractor look at it. He said if the cracks are not filled in the winter water and ice will break them apart. Although new tared driveways do not need resurfacing the first year he suggested that we do it in order to preserve it.

Our company was only hired to come in and asphalt over existing base work. The Owner designed his own driveway and base rocked it himself or with a third party company. The design had the driveway elevated 4-6 feet above current terrain which involved a lot of base work to be done, which was supposedly done correctly. After installation heavy rains came in the weeks after and washed the base out from underneath the driveway which then causes the asphalt driveway to fail since there was no base for the driveway to be on. We offered the home owner solutions that weren't his liking since he was taking zero responsibility for the previous work which cause ours to fail.
