 Mike Mercorella ruined our home!  The job was to remove popcorn, paint the ceilings and paint trim.  After the first day, we took the trim part out of the deal.

He told us at our initial meeting that he would cover everything thoroughly before beginning the project.  He barely covered a thing and then ran out of plastic and wanted us to go buy him some...what?  One of his workers had a meltdown and walked out the 2nd day (by the way...the job was going to take 2 days and maybe into a third day...ha!) 

The popcorn was removed, but he barely applied mud where needed and began painting.  I tried to show him where he missed and he accused me of being "nit-picky".  He scratched our hardwood floors and scratched our painted walls by going over areas where the wet popcon fell on the wall with a sanding block....again, what?  He got paint on our carpet, walls, blinds and hardwood floor.  Plaster is stuck in the grooves of the hard wood floor, he dropped something on the hardwood floor and gauged it.  He placed something on the floors that took off the finish.  He was sloppy...I have a ton of pictures and video...and I could go on and on.

On the third day, we decided that was it, this guy was going to destroy our home if we did not stop him.  So we told him he needed to be done by 3:00.  He said no problem.  We asked if he would put us on his General Liability Insurance and that we needed him to call them and send us a certificate.  He stated he needed to get paid for the work completed.  Guess what?  He did not complete.  We had already given him half of the his bid, but we have not given anymore .  He  refused to contact his insurance (I doubt he has any) and what we paid him and what we "owe" him is considerably less than the damage done to our house.  Mike ended up walking out on the project and left some of his materials.  I contacted hime two days later regarding the insurance and again, he refused.  This guy is the biggest crook!  He told me to throw his stuff away.

I contacted a lawyer and I am prepared to take him to smaill claims court to, once and for all, stop the maddess of Mike (he had a few hissy fits along the way...grown man?  I don't think so).  He has no business trying to run a business.  I hope this helps anyone out there that is looking for a painter/handyman...Mike Mercorella is neither!  He's barely a man!
