Normally my wife can spot a crook instanly, but she wanted to get a deal on new eyeglasses and went to a brand new store, Eyeglass world (1st Street across from the mall) They promised 1-hour wait for her glasses. At this point the sign "No refunds" should have worried her enough to leave, but she didn't see it. Also, the eyeglasses throughout the store do not have prices posted, that makes it obvious that the business has PLANS for a bait-and-switch.

Anyway, her glasses weren't done 'til the next day, hardly an hour but about 28 hours. She knows things happen and wasn't mad. She picked them up and couldn't even see to pull out of the lot, she took them back inside. An assistant manager checked the glasses and they weren't even close to the prescription. A second person, some toothless gal started laughing uncontrollably but we understand they probably pay $2.50 an hour and hire whatever they can find. Wife is told that Monday afternoon the glasses would be ready, if not sooner as they are a priority.

Asst manger appologizes and offers a third pair of glasses for free. The asst manager will appear in this account again as she appears to be the only one in this store who has either a brain or a conscience. I wish we knew her name. Monday 6pm, not done! In fact, they lost the order in the store and took a while to find it. The manger, Terry Westenberger (not from here) was rude and began yelling about how hard he busts his a*s making glasses for trailer trash etc.

My wife had about enough and asked for district manager's contact info, Terry gave her a bogus name as well as telephone number. The asst manager later gave her the real info after she found it on her own. Terry W basically said, "too bad, all sales are final, we'll have your glasses when they're done". My wife told me what was up and I checked this site and saw scores of complaints, in fact it appears she wasn't getting screwed over nearly as bad as many people.

Over the next week (it took about 5 more days before she got any eyeglasses) my wife found the district manger's phone number and called him. He wasn't surprised, he told her the guy had a stack of complaints, as well as a bunch of people contacting the BBB (The BBB is a joke though).

She was in contact with the asst manager and eventually got her glasses. The asst manager said angry people constantly call for Terry Westenberger and he takes their phone number and never calls them back.

She said The only way to talk to him is if you catch him in the store and corner him, then he promises a bunch of stuff to quiet you down, later to not make good on. My advice: Stay away from these crooks, they probably wont be here long anyway, and read the other reports.

I have the same problem with the Orlando Store

You don't give refunds? So Eyeglass World is nothing but thieves and you are proud of your incompetence?  Well we will see about a refund when I sue your sorry asses. I paid your incompetent jackasses at the Orlando Store $528 for glasses that I refused delivery on BECAUSE I CANNOT SEE THROUGH THEM!  You people need to be put out of business! Your customer service is the most rude I have ever experienced and your Lab people are clearly incompetent!

    I recently learned of this report.  I was employed as a manager of the Bradenton Eyeglass World.

The home office dictates policy and procedures.  Refunds were not given and this policy was posted throughout the store. 

    I will respond to this as a false representatin of my professionalism.  Eyeglass World has a low tollerance for poor customer service and enlists secret shoppers to evaluate employees and stores.  Three bad shops you are terminated. 

    The fact that Eyeglass World limits managers to strict compliance of policy I was more than happy to provide my supervisors name and number to any customer that would ask. 

    The discription of staff is inaccurate and distasteful.  As with any fashion oriented company Eyeglass World is protective of it's image,  Enough said on that subject.

    I have been a manager, multiple and single store, for over thirty years.  I value both employees and customers.  During those years it has been my unpleasant task to terminate individual for cause. 

Retaliation and revenge have been would seen to be a motive for this cowardly character assasination.

    I am not surprised that someone of such low character would use an online forum to make false allegations.
