On Monday the 23 of February I checked my bank account to discover that someone had made three identical fraudulent charges of $685.79, each accompanied by an "international processing fee" of $20.57.  I immediately called my bank and reported the fraud. I then went to my local branch and spoke to one of the managers as well.  The bank seemed to be bending over backward to help me (US Bank).  This is a small business account and they know me well. They also said they would credit back the funds.  So far, so good.

I then did a search for the websites listed on my bank statement.  There were three similar ones, and they all started with a series of numbers and letters, followed by @ fb dot me slash ad. For each of the three, the registrant is Facebook, the "admin" is Hogan Lovells law firm, and then there's  a section for tech info.  Each section has a point of contact, phone, and email.

I contacted each of these three via phone and email.  I have not received any response.  I left second messages for each, and no response.  I tried to contact FB via my page, but there is no option for this kind of complaint.  The closest one was "report something you can't see", but then they want the link to it.  Hello Facebook? If I can't see it, what makes you think I can give you the web address???

Another interesting point is that on this "whoisit" website search page is a phone number for Facebook's tech department.  When I called that and pressed the number for customer service, there was a recording that said "Facebook does not provide customer support via phone.  Please visit our webpage for help" (or something like that).  So I called back, again and again, selecting different options (including the one for law enforcement) and got the same recording!

It isn't about the money because my bank is going to refund me. It's the principle that someone, somewhere, is ripping people off using a random number generator to get credit card info (that's the only way they could've gotten it).  No doubt they're ripping people off who aren't as diligent as I in checking my account (daily), and tracking down the perps.

As it so happens, my brother is an attorney who knows people at Hogan Lovells and he will be intervening.  I just want to stop (or at least slow down) these people.
