This company is not educated enough to do business with, I went into this bank to make a payment for a car loan for my husband . This payment was going to be processed on my credit card from Washington Mutual, the teller processed this payment as a "Cash Advance" without my permission or knowledge.
I complained to the BBB and stated that Fairwinds needed to educate the tellers to let clients know that when they process a car payment loan & IF thier only method to do this is to this as a Cash Advance , it is Fairiwnds responsibilty to edcuate thrier tellers to let the client know that they are doing this, this location DID NOT do this. I would have never made this payment by credit card if I had known that they can only process this by making it a cash transcation and it took my APR from 0% to 23.99 %.
NO cash passed through my hands ever, I just recieved a reciept that said it was a cash transaction and did not know it would show on my credit card as a Cash Adavnce. I have alot of education with credit cards for I was a credit counsler and a manager for this for over 3 yrs. I would NEVER process a cash advance for it ruins your APR !
This company DID NOT read or acknowledge my concernswhen I reported them to the BBB for other consumers. Phillip Tischer said to have me credit card company about this, this is NOT my credit card fault, the fault lies with Fairwinds for NOT TELLING ME THIS . My piont is that Fairwinds needs to edcuate thier employees to let clients know how this can effect thier APR on the credit card , when processing a loan payment on a credit card.
They DID NOT acknowledge this and took NO ACTION to rectify their employee's to know better than to do this, I feel that this company is not educated enough to be a banking facility ! Fairwinds should be notified and really train thier employees better and until then I will continue to let people know NOT to do business with them !

For having such an extensive education dealing with credit cards, I find it highly odd that YOU don't know these things.
"I feel that this company is not educated enough to be a banking facility !"
It seems like YOU are the one who is not educated enough to do business with a banking facility!

Credit Counsler?

Well I hope you are not in that profession anymore. If anyone should know that the only way to use a credit card to make a loan payment is to get a cash advance and then use that cash for the payment..it would be YOU. You even admit that they gave you a receipt that said "cash" and yet you still had no idea it was a cash advance.
Of course no cash passed through your hands. You were at the bank the Car loan was at so they took the Cash Advance and then applied it to the balance of the car loan. There was no need to give you the cash and just take it back again.
Since you are a credit expert then you should know you don't want to carry debt(even at 0% it is still debt). So just pay it off and that way you won't pay any interest. If you can't then work on a budget and get it paid off. At least I hope this is the same advise you gave your clients.

Credit Card Payment

First of all let me just say that credit unions are NOT banks... they are credit unions, a different beast.
Ig you use a WAMU credit card to make a payment, how could it not be a cash advance? It's not a purchase, the CU isn't a merchant, what else could it be? You got cash credit for the loan payment didn't you? You admit to getting a receipt to that effect.
The fact that you didn't know that it would be a cash advance only means that you didn't think to ask. It isn't unreasonable for them to expect that you knew what you were doing when you used the card.
