On 05-12-09 around 4:00 pm, I got a phone call at work from a man named Randy. He indicated to me that because I had a major credit card, I had been chosen to be entered into a contest for $25K and had won a watch with diamonds in it, the only requirement was that I had to buy magaines at $3.84 each, $16.65 a month for 60 months, which I soon realized afterwards totals $999.00. He has me how old I was, where I worked, what I did for a living, my home address and then he asked me about my husband, I gave his name, and what he did for a living, but I would not tell him where my husband worked. He then transferred me to his supervisor Danette? and she went over all the information I had given her, recording me that I agreed to buy the magazines, and wished me good luck in the contest. I even told her that Randy was very nice and polite on the phone before we hung up, however, neither of them asked me my credit card information or checking account information. Less than 5 minutes later, I realized that not only had I been solicited at work, which is totally against our company policy, but I might have been scammed. I got on their website and started reading other complaints against this company. I immediately called back and got Jade on the phone. Told her that I did not want the watch or magazines and that I had just read some complaints about them on Rip Off Report and she was also very nice but justified it by saying that anyone can get on that site and file a complaint and that they are listed with the Better Business Bureau.
She then proceeded to tell me that I did not qualify for the promotion anyway due to not willing to give them my husband's place of employment.
She asked if I wanted to be cancelled out of their system and I said "yes"
I have instructed my son and husband to not sign for anything from this company, in case they try to send me the watch, and if they send me any magazines, they will be sent right back to them. If they ever contact me again or try to make me pay for anything, I will file a complaint with the Massachusetts Attorney General's office as well as the Ohio Attorney General's office. This company really needs to be looked at regarding their telemarketing practices, sleezy is putting it mildly.
