Late last summer, I was invited to enter a poetry contest for inclusion in Famous Poets' upcoming anthology. At the time of the sumission of my poem, I also sent in an order and check for two books.

Then, late in October, I received a proof of my poem for approval and was asked to submit a short biography which I did along with a check for a setup fee, or some such thing. At that point I had no reason for suspicion, as I had also entered a contest with another company whose markering techniques were quite similar. (I received everything promised me by that firm and an award that put me first in the book to boot.)

I heard nothing from Famous Poets again until the first week in May 2004, inviting me to their convention; and on 5-12 I sent them a written complaint about the missing books, to which there has been no response.
