We purchased an 18,000 btu window unit air conditioner manufactured by Fedders at the end of July of last year. After the original unit quit in less than 2 weeks, the replacement quit after only a month of use this summer. Repeated attempts to contact the company both by phone and email were unreturned and when we finally did get a hold of someone, they simply told us they were not honoring their warranties. The company declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy in August of last year and will not honor any warranty on a product sold before then. They wouldn't even offer us assistance of any kind, it was like too bad, so sad and it was obvious that they didn't care, because it wasn't their problem. I will never purchase anything manufactured by this company again. Beware they also manufacture units under the name of Maytag and others.
