Federal Loan Modification Told me I would get my refund the first week of may. I called when it didn't come they said their attourneys were taking care of it Irvin California

My husband almost died last year. We got behind on our mortgage payments. Then my husband and I both got laid off in January 2009. I had been at my job for 24years, they just ellimenated my position. So we tried this federal loan modification thinking with a name like that it had to be legal. so we paid 2months payments then the lady working with my mortgage comp. called and said they couldnt do it because we were behind on our payments. Well I had told them that before they startedthis whole thing. We owed 1 more payment so to make sure they didn't get it we changed our bank account.On March19,2009 I got a release and settlement agreement form them told them the refund amount is 2047.50. when i called them they would say soon then it was the first week of May, when it didn't come I called again they said the lawyers we're to decide what to do. So I have been calling frequently, but now it says this number cannot be reached.We have needed this money back to help make our mortgage payments but to no avail. This is our money we have worked so hard for and they just take it from us as if we are nothing.this is just so unfair. I believed in their help, and it has cost us. How do you know who to trust.
