I contracted with Federal Moving Systems to move approximately 2000 pounds of household goods in December of 2009.  They insisted upon a deposit of approximately $352 to be made via Paypal in order to guarantee the quoted price for poundage and pick-up date.  Money was sent via paypal.  I tried for several days prior to the guaranteed pick-up date to call in order to confirm the time.  Less than 24 hours prior to the guaranteed pick up date, I was contacted by Max (the alleged owner, who refused to give his last name) only to be told that the price was going to be approximately $2000 more than the contract due to another individual cancelling.  Max stated that the other party had their money completely refunded by Federal, "because these things happen" and that I "need to understand how business works".  I attempted to cancel with Max and he refused to refund my deposit and told me that if I wanted the original guaranteed price that the move would have to be postponed 2-3 months.  Buyer beware, don't waste your hard-earned money on a shady mover!

SCAM MOVING COMPANY

AUTHOR: Laura - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, January 19, 2010

My contract stated that my pick-up would be on the 30th or 31st of December, nowhere does it state that the deposit is non-refundable.  I have asked Federal Moving Systems to provide me with a contract signed by myself that stated that the deposit is non-refundable and they have refused to comply.  I needed to be moved NLT than the 31st and Federal Moving Systems guaranteed me verbally that this could be accomplished.  They did NOT honor the terms of the contract.  I asked for a refund, they refused.  Federal Moving Systems laughed at my request for a refund of my deposit and told me that was not happening.  The contract was with ME, not my husband.  My husband was 1200 miles away and the goods to be moved were located at my residence.  Max told me that I was a "hysterical" female.  My husband did not agree to this EXTORTION attempt and if he did, why did he not pay the additional monies and have the goods moved???  I told Federal Moving Systems that I would  be filing complaints with the BBB and also via the internet; their response was to go ahead.  The bottom line is that I was left high and dry with no moving company.  I found another moving company and my household goods were moved by the reputable company for less than $1800.  At no time was I offered a refund and Federal Moving Systems is lying.  RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN AWAY FROM THIS SCAM BUSINESS!!

We had a job the day before laura. This customer cancelled on us and we always use a 48 hour pick up window. We gave the customer that cancelled a full refund which in our contract it states the deposit is non-refundable but we gave it back to the customer anyway. After that we told laura what day we could move her. And she declined it so we first offered her a re-fund of her deposit which she declined then second we told her how much it would cost for us to drive a truck solo to her and how much it would cost for her to use the whole truck for this small move. From a business point of view it would not be efficient for us to do this unless she paid for the whole truck. But we did offer her a refund even though on the contract with laura's signature states the deposit is non-refundable. But Federal Moving Systems will not take responsibility for this, because we offered a re-fund laura which she declined and we told her up front how much this move would cost. There were no surprises we told her up front about everything and her husband AGREED to the price for the entire 27ft truck even though they understood they were only moving 2000lbs laura also promised us she would not post a complaint because we did work with her on the price of the 27ft truck including and not limited to splitting the difference of the price.
