Also Received letter from Fidelity Securities ref: North American Sweepstakes Lottery. I see there are several complaints on this site on this company and someone has actually written the letter word for word that I received. Called the number provided and spoke with a man who had an Indian? accent. Stated name as Jeffery Stephens. Claimed never heard of others named in the letter. Had suspicions from the start as there was no return address. Man stated just deposit the check and call back. Did a little research and found it to be a scam. The bank the check is drawn on is real. Valley National Bank out of Tulsa, OK. The number is a cell out of Canada. Probably a cell from K-Mart and buys minutes so the phone company wouldn't have any records. He could be anywhere in Canada or the states or God knows where. Called back and spoke with "Mr. Jefferies" letting him know I knew it was a scam. He promptly told me to F-off and hung up. Couldn't live with that so I called him again and explained that at this time of year, Christmas, and with the economy being what it is, he may very well come across someone who might take this thing to the extreme and take him out before Christmas. Bad idea to take money from people who do not have it in the first place and at this time of year they may very well come looking for him. Just a little friendly advise. He's definately a smartass who absolutely does not care. He told me that Americans are stupid and it was too easy to get their money and had no intention of stopping these letters. Told me to F-off again and hung up on me again. Decided to call him a few more times just to irritate him. Dared me to try and find him. Told me once again Americans are stupid and there's not a d**n thing we can do about it.

I got over it, but the problem is...he's right to a degree. We, as a Nation, do absolutely nothing to prevent this from happening. I would LOVE to see this guy brought to justice but it simply isn't going to happen. As an investigator for 22 years, with the proper backing, I'd be happy to find him and drag his butt kicking and screaming to the authorities. Just hope someone catches him and brings him to justice before he gets himself killed. I'd rather see him in jail suffering than getting off with an easy death. I wish no one harm, but people are suffering enough without his kind. I'm keeping the letter and check and warning my parents, their friends and anyone else who will listen. The elderly are ripe for this scumbag to get and they certainly do not have the money to lose. Guess all I can do at this point is pray he get's his. Or comes looking for me.
