I received a letter from FAMS stating I could pay off my deliquent credit card account for 30% of the balance.  I thought this was a great deal and cashed out my IRA to do so.  I was tired of being harrassed and wanted this settled.  I have heard of scams, so I wanted to talk to someone first before I sent the money.  When I called the number provided 1-800-530-3778 to speak to S. Delude, Director of Operations, I got a recording.  The recording said I made an error and to call my representative directly.  Now I am very confused.

So, I called the credit card company and asked them about paying off my debt balance at the stated 30% rate.  They told me it was a scam.  Do not pay them.  The credit card company is not doing business with them. 

Now I wonder how they got my information.  So watch out for those too good deals.  Make sure payment is going towards your debt.
