Due to an accountant  committing fraud on my taxes I got into financial trouble.
I was not behind on any of my bills yet, But i knew i was going to have to pay the IRS a bunch of money and would have to stop payment on my debt. I found F.I.R.E. by answering a survey on the net.  They promised to settle my debt .20 cents on the dollar.  They said just stop paying your bills pay us. I asked if they took payments and they wanted to know if I had the any money left on my cards to pay them with. I said no and they said they would take the money out of my checking account.  The amount was was over 1200$. This was a lot of money to us since my husband is on disability and we had to pay a tax atty 3900.00$ on my taxes. We started putting the money in our acct o settle the debt, but They were also taking money out to fix our credit. Which nobody can do but you yourself.  You learn this in Bankruptcy counseling. Also later they tell you  if you get called in to court they will not help you , you are on your own. When i called them and told them I wanted out of the program they turned me over to their collection department.  The woman on the phone was screaming at me and said i had a contract with them and that they were going to take me to court.  When I said I didn't understand her because she was screaming. She told me i needed a attitude adjustment and hung up on me.  i tried to call back the next day and i requested money back because they didn't fix my credit. She sent a letter saying they wouldn't send any of my money back. I file bankruptcy and I never heard from them again. Why do they have a good consumer rating? can anyone help me get my money back?
